Did you know that the replica Eiffel Tower in the Paris Casino in Vegas is exactly one-half the scale of the original and is identical in all of its schematics, except for its size? It used the original blue prints when it was being constructed.

On the subject of painting the Eiffel Tower, check these out.

a) Each paint job adds about 60 tons to the weight of the tower. 20 tons of it gets eroded/evaporated in between paint jobs -- every 7 years or so. After 17 paint jobs, it is now about 700 tons heavier compared to its original weight.
b) 25 men take about 15 months to accomplish this thankless task. As no spray guns are allowed, about 1500 brushes will get used up.
c)Originally red in colour, now the tower is painted in 3 shades of Eiffel Tower Brown -- the bottom is painted dark and the top pale.

Hello Harry! Gtho got there first as I put up a greeting to you in the welcome center...as you're the palindrome 5555!
Oh be sure you put in your time zone in the history and geography center too, we were trying to see how many different time zones we all represent.
India has several if memory serves! All I recall is arriving at the train station then being told "the train will leave soon!"

Gtho you beat me to it!

Thanks guys for the welcome. I was blissfully unaware of the fact that I am member # 5555. The language in my native town is MALAYALAM -- another palindrome.

By the way, India has only one time zone -- Indian Standard Time (IST) is GMT + 05:30 (UTC + 05:30).

Thanks once again and I look forward to an enjoyable time at FunTrivia.

Hi Harry, don't worry, we just like celebrating which someone from India is sure to appreciate!
I went to India on a round the world trip and so I didn't recall the one time zone.
All I remember is the train from Madras to Delhi for three days and it changed directions in the middle of the night!
We're happy to have someone from your sub continent!
Now how did you get all the Eiffel Tower lore?
I see it on the news here in France;
