All this talk about old bats! Aren't they considered rats with wings? . I was just thinking that if I ever do end up in a wheelchair I'm going to name my right wheel Sue and my left wheel Ren. That seems like the right thing to do - that way I'll know I'll go forward. P.S.> I'm not sure if naming a wheel after a person is exactly flattering but I know you both get the point.

Now as to this male rat...if you don't name him Gatsby I'll be crushed! . The spirit of little Zanzibar rests on my shoulder (he chatters a bit!). He assured me that was a good idea - but, as a second choice, he thought naming him Richard Nixon might be OK. I think you need a devious Republican in your yard, roos. Not a carefree bootlegger.

The male shall be named "Gatsby". His name will remind me to be kinder and more tolerant.

Ratty naming update.

My better half has decided that we shall not be breeding rats. Fair enough really as she is the one that spends time caring for our pets.

We have acquired 2 guinea pigs and have named them Gatsby and George. Purple I did like the name you suggested but as it turns out it wouldn`t suit a guinea pig.

Sue the ratty has managed to escape and was living in my garage for a couple of days. We haven`t seen her for a day and believe she has fallen in with a bad crowd and is currently living in the bush with the wild bush rats.

Ratty Ren seems more relaxed these days.

Thanks for the giggle. Sorry my namesake has bolted, hopefully she will return unharmed and in a virgin state rather than in the family way!

How I love having a "Gatsby" guinea pig scampering about! I've been called a 'pig' more times than I can remember. Now I REALLY am one. Release me/him from my cage roos! I have wayward rats to locate. One in the Channel Islands and now the other who has now found her way to Shanghai! Did Gatsby come with a passport?

(Nice to read, Roos !)
