Got this straight out of Reader's Digest ...

"QUESTION... Has anyone proved that toast really does tend to land butter side down?

ANSWER... A recent experiment involving 1000 British school children did. In the study, led by physicist Robert Matthews of Birmingham's Aston university, students allowed buttered toast to slide off plates held at waist height. The slices landed butter-side down 62% of the time. The reason, Matthews says, is that as the toast slips off the plate it starts to spin. The toast has to fall from at least 3 metres to have good chance of coming up butter-side up again before hitting the floor."

I saw a funny piece a while back (wish I could find it), about the fact that buttered toast always lands face down and cats always land upright.

The idea was to strap a piece of toast (buttered side inwards) to a cats stomach and drop the entire 'assembly'. Because of the repulsion factors inherent between the unbuttered toast, the cat's back and the floor, the entire unit would defy the laws of gravity and hover, spinning, just above the floor. Simply attach the axis to a turbine, and Voila! you have just created a frictionless power generator!

Copago...in your dunny...kinda inside/outside....with the frogs and snakes and whatever...I find it very refreshing that you have a Reader's Digest at hand! Don't know why!

Tell you for sure...my toast lands butter-side down every time...in Canada...maybe it's an equator thing....and I don't let my cat, Simba, FALL!

That's ALL! [Big Grin] [Big Grin]
