Well, All of India is proud of their crciket team ,all except the hapless bookies (illegal, of course) - it is estimated that the poor chaps lost around Rs 650 Crore because of this match (You can do the conversion yourself. 45 RS = 1 USD)
Refreshing change - but there are still two more tests to go. Wait and watch....

No one with even a quasi grip on reality could consider any sports player God, much less GOD!!!!!! Why would you think that I felt that way solely because there was a Cricket player involved?
Tom Brady, Donovan McNabb, Peyton Manning, Curtis Martin, Ricky Williams, etc., are all talented men and do their sport proud. Not a one is God.

I'm sorry but I don't even have a quasi grip on reality.
Cricket is not a sport. It's a religion.

Yes, how can a cricketer be God? Come on people - surely he would be a Rugby League player wearing black and gold. Well done to the Indians, fantastic game!

A question - Had Gillespie played the whole of last day, was India supposed to have a hard day? Was the absence of Gillespie one of the main reasons for the historic win?

The reason why Gillespie did'nt play was that he was not fit enough. Saurav Ganguly is not responsible for that.

There was an article in a Newspaper by Ian Chappel which says that a new chapter in the history of Cricket has started - that of Indo-Aussie rivalry.
While other teams tend to surrender in front of Aus, India often have something new in stock for kangaroos. Australia are starting to think about India a little differently now. Examples being Eden Gardens and the Gabba.
What do you think?

1. Cricket IS a religion, especially in India. 2. God is and has always been Don Bradman. 3. Sachin is a prophet and Dravid only a preacher. 4. Ganguly is not responsible for anything, but giving Indian cricket a bad (undeservedly) name, through his rudeness and arrogance (DUCK) {pardon the pun}. 5. Congratulations to India for their first win in Australia in 22 years. 6. Do you think I’m copping it? My wife was born in Bombay and her sister is staying with us at the moment!

Ganguly is arrogant. Australians(the cricket team) are of course symbols of sportsmanship and humility.

Yes Manvinder, hence the (DUCK) {for cover} [pardon yet another pun]. I note no mention of the rudeness, though.

Ganguly in my personal opinion is the best thing that could have happened to Indian Cricket. I think he's the Captain Courageous who has brought this killer instinct into the Indian Team. I'll keep him even if he scores a duck in every match.

Manvinder, I said he was rude and arrogant, I didn’t say he wasn’t a good captain. He probably IS the best thing that’s happened, to bring the brilliance of the individuals in the Indian team together as a team. In the past, Indian teams have tended to have players of varying degrees of talent who have played as individuals. You can’t be a consistently above average test team playing that way. So I think you’re right in that regard, but I still don’t like him. Then again, captaincy of a competitive test team is not necessarily a popularity contest, especially among other nations.

India did bat well but nothing entertaining has happened so far. If I wanted to watch two guys hit the ball along the ground I may as well watch a couple of old ladies sweeping paths. Tendulkar batted exceptional but it was nothing to keep me from falling asleep. Australia will now blast through India's tail and score quickly and before too long Australia will win back the trophy.
