Some people believe that mistletoe brings the possibility of a kiss. Others believe it might cure cancer.
It's better to go with the kiss theory. Though some Europeans use the legendary plant to treat cancer, new research finds it doesn't work.
"Rigorous trials of mistletoe extracts fail to demonstrate [the] efficacy of this therapy," investigators from England and Germany report in the Nov. 1 International Journal of Cancer.
To test the kiss hypothesis, simply stand under a sprig of mistletoe during the holidays and wait and see what happens.
