I had downloaded Avant Browser a while back, but had ignored and let it rot away on my hard-disk -- until now.

Avant Browser is very powerful -- it integrates Internet Explorer with a host of other functions, including pop-up blocking, tabbed-browsing and more. Take a look at its homepage: http://www.avantbrowser.com/index.html.

It's completely freeware, and can be downloaded from here.

Now before my tone in this post gets people to start suspecting that I am actually a salesman for Avant Browser, I must hastily mention that I still prefer Mozilla Firebird! Firebird still remains my primary browser, and is much more powerful than Avant. It's just that it sometimes can get a bit unstable (particularly while handling Java), and so I decided to look for an alternative.

I tried Avant browser a while back. It adds some good features to the basic IE browser, However, the enhancements don't appear to address some of the vulnerabilities that the underlying IE browser suffers from, such as being prone to security holes and Browser hijacking. Apart from that, I think the Avant browser is good. Certainly worth a read of the extra features it adds anyway.
