Continuing my new computer saga, I was lucky enough to be given Windows XP professional when the shop couldn't reload 98 onto the new computer. I have to say I'm very impressed.
Just the one question (so far)- I can't manage to raise the 'thermometer scale' on the taskbar to show me loading progress for webpages. I know it's so quick you hardly need it, but it would be nice as I'm used to it. I've right clicked everything but it seems to imply it doesn't have one. Am I right?

The bar you mean could be the one that shows on the the Internet Explorer Status Bar. Open IE and go to the 'View' menu. Make sure there is a tick next to where it says 'Status Bar'. If there isn't, just click on it.

Thanks TW, it's always been there before so I took it for granted till the new machine hid it. I didn't even know what it was called or I would have done a help search. I tried every box except that one as well.
'Sorted!'- nice to see it back, and it's a green bar now.
