Who do you think will win the best motion picture:
COLD MOUNTAIN
THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RETURN OF THE KING
MASTER AND COMMANDER: THE FAR SIDE OF THE WORLD
MYSTIC RIVER
SEABISCUIT

I think and hope Lord of the Rings wins.
Any thoughts on anything about the Golden Globes?

I love awards season and it seems LOTR has got it in the bag, both the Golden Globes and likely the Oscar for Best Picture. I've not seen it, but it looks pretty darned impressive. My tastes run more towards "Mystic River", though. Every year I pick someone to root for (not the movie but the actor/actress in it). This year my hero is Sean Penn. I hope he wins everything that he's up for. The Foreign Press Association might not go for him, however, but I think the Oscars will. Then there's Charlize Theron vs. Diane Keaton. They'll probably both win at the Globes, and should. Come the Academy Awards, my bet is on Theron.

My two cents worth....

I'm with you Gatsby. I always seem to root for the underdog, and while I sincerely hope LOTR takes it for Best Picture/Director, TIm Robbins and Sean Penn should walk away with something.
I was unable to see Mystic River but am familiar with author Dennis Lehane's gritty books.
For all the nominees go to:
Golden Globes

I would like to put a plug in for Master and Commander. It was a very good movie, and I would like to see it win some kind of award. It was visually very impressive.
