Why is junk e-mail called 'SPAM'? The history of SPAM...

Unsolicited email earned the name "spam" because it resembled a Monty Python skit where a chorus of Vikings drowned out other sounds by singing "spam, spam, spam." Learn more.

Early digital marketing pioneers contend that spam is actually an acronym for Simultaneously Posted Advertising Message.

The first spam email may have been sent in 1978 by a Digital Equipment Corporation salesperson to announce a product presentation. Source: The New York Times, February 9, 2003.

Being exceedingly partial to the pink stuff which comes in a can I got quite excited about the topic title here, I thought that we were going to get a feast of Spam and Spam related information.

I agree with Ren, I wouldn't admit to that too loudly Sue.

www.spam.com will tell you everything you want to know. Did you know they have a careers page but I don't know if taste tester is one of them.

BLECH!

Although, I do have to say that I did grow up eating it fried. One of my Dad's specialties. I think it's one of those generational things - old people tend to like the stuff.

Ummmm..."old" is anything over 102 years old. (I'm still angling for some chocolate to show up in my mailbox, so I'm trying to be veddy, veddy careful! )

If you eat too much Spam, Sue, watch out for the fat. Hormel's website (they make Spam) gives the total fat content for various meats as chicken breast (skinless) 1.78%, chicken breast (with skin) 8.33%, beef sirloin (fat trimmed) 7.26%. I had to look on www.spam-uk.com to find Spam reaches 24.2%.

Aw, now you have spoilt it! I don't eat it very often, well not daily or even every week. It will just have to be my special treat then, special occasions.

Definetely spoiled it, but since I'm skinny, I'm ok with it, as long as I don't gain the weight, I'm ok, besides I exercise a lot!
