I apologize if this is inappropriate, but I thought I might have some luck here, because I am getting irked. Someone asked me
"Say my name and I cease to exist. What am I?"
I have also heard this as "Utter my name and I cease to exist. What is my name?" (Pretty much the same thing.) I thought I was pretty clever, and that the answer was "silence."
However, the person who asked me claims that this is not the correct answer. I suggested variations on the same (peace, soundlessness, etc.) but she says I'm way off. Does anyone have an alternate answer to this? (I tried to search for this riddle here and got no results, so I apologize if it is one of the "what am Is" here.)

Thank you for your possible answer, but now I have discovered that the person who asked me was just an imbecile. She believes the answer is "Science," which of course is not the case!
So I assume that she (or whoever told her the riddle) just misheard the "silence" answer.
As a side note, another friend of mine came up with "monosyllabic" or monosyllabicity," which I thought was pretty funny.

Blueblue, that one had me intrigued, too. I have heard it before, and knew the answer was 'silence'. 'Science' makes no sense at all.

ooh, that's one of my favorite riddles! Of course, I wouldn't have been smart enough to figure it on my own; I heard it in the movie 'Life is Beautiful'. lol.
