Adobe Reader SpeedUp is a utility for speeding up the opening of PDF pages. Some of these pages can take ages to open, so anything that knocks a bit off the time must be a good thing.

It works by preventing the loading of rarely used parts of the program called 'plugins'. The speed-up option can easily be reversed if necessary. Also, if Adobe Reader needs a particular plugin to display a page it can be enabled individually (although I haven't noticed any pages not displaying properly since using the utility).

It can be found at the top of this page

I have a lot of instruction manuals I use on Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0, so installed this speedup. It works very well as it doesn't run through a huge amount of stuff before it opens. Many thanks.
