I heard a story about Dutch football player Cruyff, goes like this. Upon recieving a penalty Cruyff prepares to take it, however rather than shoot at goal he passes a ball to another Dutch player who runs in to recieve it. The keeper comes off his line after the ball upon which time the player passes back to Cruyff who slots the ball into an open net. I dont know what team they were playing for. Just wonder if anyone else has heard this story and knows if it is in fact true.

This is indeed true. This was the Dutch master, Johan Cruyff playing for Ajax Amsterdam who passed the ball to teammate Jesper Olsen.

Remarkable!
Johan Cruyff (Ajax) v Helmond Sports, 1982 : The most bizarre penalty ever, by a good country mile. Cruyff places the ball, and then plays it sideways to the onrushing Jesper Olsen. Goalkeeper thus distracted, Olsen lays it across the face of the goal, and, in commentator-speak, 'that won't be the most difficult goal of Cruyff's career.' Sadly, you can't do that any more.

a penalty-kick he took on December 5, 1982 against Helmond Sport. Instead of shooting in the conventional manner, he passed the ball forward and to his left. There his team-mate Jesper Olsen, running into the penalty area, collected it, and passed it back to Cruyff, who placed the ball in an empty net while the Helmond keeper watched open-mouthed and motionless.

Classic!
