I'd be interested to know if from any of the Americans who frequent this site whether this made any of their sports news .......

Yesterday the USA beat Scotland and, in what must be one of the tightest Group finishes in any tournament ever sneaked into top place on net run rate.

The six team group finsihed with five (yes five) teams level on 6 points with three wins & two defeats each with poor Canada (who played in the last World Cup) at the foot of the table losing all five games.

The ICC (international cricket conference) Cup tournament was set up to find a qualifier for the Champions Trophy in England in September.

The USA will therefore make their ODI debut in September, taking on Australia & New Zealand.

The USA team is made up of a patchwork of players & captained by an ex-Jamaican first class player. Their "star" player though is Clayton Lambert, a former WI opener with a penchant for six hitting. In september (assuming he plays) he will become the second man to play ODIs for two countries after Kepler Wessels.
