It can be just left there for now. What AVG does with a virus it doesn't have a cure for is to isolate it in a safe place where it won't do any harm (the Virus Vault). It is likely that a cure will be available in the future and when it is, the infection can be 'healed'. Are your virus definitions right up to date? If not, download them and see if AVG can deal with it then.

Did you also have the option to just delete it?

A better explanation of AVG functions can be found here. This does refer to AVG Professional but it applies to the free version as well.

Thanks tellywellies

I didnt have the option to delete it, AVG recommended it be sent into the virus vault. The virus definitions are up to date as the AVG runs automatic and scans and updates as soon as i turn the computer on each day.

Thanks for the link you have posted, It has answered a few Q's for me

Quote:

With our desire to keep AVG up to date against the constant flow of new viruses, it is possible that AVG will be able to detect a virus an update or two before it has the ability to fix it. Every infected file is locked up in the Virus Vault, a special encrypted folder. From there you can heal or restore the file at a later date. Viruses stored in the vault cannot replicate!
