Ozzzz
You have been misled by some rather partisan answers to your question about "prestigious" trophies. To answer your queries in a detached and unbiased way:
The FA Cup is a worthless tin pot, which we "threw" so that we could pour scorn on the Mancs and laugh at their absurd celebration of such a lowly prize.
The Champions League is silly EuroDisney nonsense - I've always hated midweek football and am glad to see the back of it.
The Carling/League/Worthington/Coca-cola/Milk/Littlewoods/Rumbelows (have I missed any?) Cup is a daft little competition under all its various stupid names, which no-one really cares about. We should have sent out a team of monkeys in the 3rd round so we could have been knocked out sooner and removed the distraction and unnecessary games.
Premiership - the doyen of football competitions, and the pinnacle of sporting achievement. Reached its zeniths in the glory years of 1998 and 2002, although slightly tarnished in the years in between. A player who has won the premiership is second only to one who has won the World Cup. A player who has won both is a god. (NB. my answer to this may change come the end of the season - check back in a few weeks time for my confident assertion that the greatest achievement possible is a 3rd place finish).
Hope that's helpful.

PS. the one about the Carling Cup is true.

Islingtonian You is the man!!!! For me The Premiership is the one, its thebread and butter and is guaged over nine months. Arsenal my team are currently top with 8 to play, and its the one i have always wanted. The FA Cup, is the oldest club comp in the world and is always nice to win, my team have won it two years running and have an execellent record in the last 8 years with 4 finals, 2 semis and a couple of early exits. The Carling Cup has lost its prestige, and was once a trophy of importance, but since the birth of the Prem it has gone down hill. The Champions League Well what can i say after last night??? I would love to win it but doubt i will ever see it happen, so for me its a bonus...its something that i dont think my club will ever win....but there is always hope.

Looks like Mr Wenger's lost the plot! He now states that when Manchester United won the treble in '99 that, and I quote "I would like to compare their draw in the FA Cup (1999) to our draw this year. I don't think it's comparable. They played a few teams with less resistance." Let's spotlight that one shall we.. United's Cup run in 1999: Middlesbrough, Liverpool, Fulham, Chelsea, Arsenal and then Newcastle in the final. Arsenal's Cup run in 2004: Leeds, Middlesbrough, Chelsea and Portsmouth before losing to United. In the Champions League in 1999, United faced the likes of Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Juventus.. all of which were very tough opponents and equally tough games. If the two 3-3 draws with Barca weren't enough, then the games against Inter and Juve would have been enough to kill off most teams. Those are, of course, only my views, but the full story can be seen here: Arsene Whinger

Now now kiddiwinks ... there is only one important competition in English Football ... and that is the scrap for play off places in Division One.
Forget automatic promotion - fair too simple - and less likely to give your supporters heart failure.
Roll on the mighty scoring (& leaking) machine of the Mighty Ipswich.

Ozz - I'm now in a position to give you a full and honest answer to your question (I confess that a hint of partisan preference may have crept into my original one).
We secured the Premiership yesterday, and I feel genuinely and unabashedly fantastic.
To be Premiership champions is what matters most. It gives you the opportunity to sing "Champions" at the top of your voice to opposing fans for the entire next season. The mere fact that people understand what you're singing about without further explanation tells you something about which competition really counts. Try singing "FA Cup Holders" or "You've only come to see the Winners of the Champions League Knockout Phase" and you'll get an idea of what I mean. You can be sure that, come what may, the best team in the country will win the Premiership - and will be recognised as such (albeit grudgingly in some quarters). There's no other competition about which you can say that.
When we won the FA Cup last year, having thrown away the League, it was a nice consolation, but a consolation nonetheless. There was no open top bus parade and it wasn't much missed (I don't know for certain there will be one this year, but I'm sure the fans will expect one). It's a sad fact that the FA Cup (which is still streets ahead of all other Cup competitions) has lost some of its sheen, and not all of that loss is due to the fact that you have to go to Cardiff to watch it.
I was worried that our success would be tempered by going out of the European Cup, but I can say in all honesty it hasn't. Having a 2 year old son limits somewhat your opportunities to go out into the street, drink copious amounts and run up and down all night with a red and white flag over your head, but were I offspringless that's what I would have been doing and would probably be doing now.
So there you have it. During this moment of temporary clarity, and recognising that I will be unable to do this without sneering if we don't retain the Crown next year, I can confirm that the Premiership is the one that counts.

Fully agreed. While it's nice to gain silverware of some description (not including the League cup though!) becoming Premiership or European Champions is the best feeling in the game as a supporter. When Manchester United won the first Premier League title in 1993, it was a day that I will never forget, yet when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer scored the winner against Bayern Munich to become Champions of Europe in 1999 and seal the treble, I don't recall much about it (mainly due to the intake of large amounts of alcohol!) It's difficult to win the Premiership in what I still regard as the best League in the world, but it's even harder retaining it.Every team wants to beat the champions, and fans expect the same success. Arsenal may well end the season unbeaten, but if they win it again next year, having lost a game or three, then it won't be remembered as much. The sad fact of life is, England expects, and English fans and media expect a little too much. Remaining unbeaten throughout the Premiership campaign is a brilliant achievement, but the next high is winning every game, and I seriously doubt we will ever see that.

Islingtonian and Doomed - CONGRATULATIONS - proof positive that money can by you love ! Seriously - They are a great team and up among the all time best, their record this season is phenomenal, I hope you end the season unbeaten! for another record (and quiz question! !!) (there speaks a serious follower of Leicester Football Club (address Welford Road!!!! and our season has been ruined by the World Cup! ) but nearly getting a win against Glamorgan (after following on!) and stuffing Yorkshire (at cricket) yesterday is erasing the bad memories very quickly.

It really would be some achievement to go the whole season unbeaten. Still think they've got one defeat in them though? Take care of that trophy for us won't you. None of that cheap brasso stuff please!! wez

Bolton Wanderers v Leeds United 4-1 .. Leeds are relegated to the Football League Watching that game was gut-wrenching, and these scenes at the end of the match didn't help ... but we got no less than what we deserved, with the management that was there; and the players they left behind. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy! Where's PaulE?

What with West Ham going down last season and Leeds this, it proves that that no one is safe in the Premiership. I can't say that I'm sorry to see Leeds go down but I would rather it was Manchester City. I can't really see Leeds bouncing back up what with their money problems and all the players that will be leaving. Leeds aren't mathematically down yet, as long as City loose their games and Leeds win theirs by 20 goals they get to stay up

It's definitely going to take a lot longer for Leeds to bounce back, that's for sure. Personally, I don't think the players are to blame. If you're offered £50,000+ per week, you're going to take it. I dread to think how much the likes of Rio Ferdinand, Harry Kewell, et al were raking in each week. On top of that, you still have huge wages being paid to Smith, Viduka and Robinson. One name that springs to mind that you can blame is Peter Ridsdale. While one man doesn't make a team, another you could mention is Harry Kewell's agent. The above mentioned Smith, Viduka and Robinson will all be gone before the start of the new season, and at best, all Leeds will have is an average Nationwide team. The image of the club could certainately attract big-name players, but the lure of the Premiership for these players could see Leeds miss out on them. Every dog has their day, and new teams come in and take that place. I try to forget the next part, but I remember when Liverpool were virtually unbeatable at home and in Europe, and look at them now, not having won the title since the 80s. Leeds were the last ever winners of the old first division back in 91/92, but there's nobody like Eric Cantona around these days.

Ronaldo's far better than Beckham . Watching Ronaldo do as his fancy tricks and then have an end product was fantastic, all the players played well. Well apart from the United goalkeepers who had nothing to do all match. It was nice of the players to all wear "Davis 36" shirts when they went to collect the trophy.

The FA Cup Final...mmmmmm
Sorry folks but winning that trophy this season was just a consolation prize...remember your final was in early April, Millwall were a joke. The show piece of English football was nothing more than a training jaunt....pathetic...the worst advert for our game...Millwall play one up front and huff and puff..and do NOTHING but attempt to bring the game into a fight...Man Utd to their credit played to their strenghts..but dont try kidding anyone that Ronaldo is the business...in fact i guess running rings around guys you never heard of is easy.....
remember one thing...
you finished 15 points off the lead in the title race...the only one that matters..........
Funny little thing here.....The last three FA Cups and Premier League titles have been won by only two teams.......
