I used to take a couple of pain killers (panadol, paracet, aspirin)with gallons of water before sleeping. Always worked for me.

Im very experienced in this particular field and i have to agree that water before sleepies is the way to go, just force down as much as you can, works treat. Of course, every so often we forget to have water before we lapse into sleep. I have two hangover cures. One a big greasy cook up, hamburger, bacon and egg that sort of thing. Actually its not really a cure but it does make you dfeel a little better. Two, and nobody believes me with this but i swear its true; CHEESECAKE! I promise it works!!

Okay, someone take the English->Australian dictionary away from Fosse!
I'm with the water the night before too and if that doesn't happen then try the hair of the dog.
On a similar subject - apparently when you forget things from too much alcohol you remember them next time you're in the same condition. Can't remember where I read it but a good excuse to get on it again to try and remember Although there is the paradox that chances are you'll forget it all again when you do remember it so take a pen and paper to scribble it down.

I've never had a hangover in my life and the only thing I can attribute it to is never going to sleep entirely drunk...sitting up for a while after you're last drink seems to make it easier to deal with in the morning...

apple juice - I really don't drink anymore, but I remember the best cure for a hangover was apple juice, it helped balance the electrolytes lost in dehydration

It's been a long time since the old party hearty days. I used to judge the night out by how much cure I needed. The cure was a can of Pepsi, not Coke, I have no idea why. For some reason, after drinking it in one go, the resulting belch would vanquish the headache and queasies. The worst/best party was a tequila night, followed by a three can cure. I'd probably die if I tried that now

I found nothing worked apart from the passing of time. I could never keep any hangover cures down for long enough for them to do any good. When the hangover finally lifted, the transformation from feeling ill to feeling better was so quick it was almost miraculous. I could be feeling totally grotty one minute and better the next. This normally happened around eleven o'clock.
I can't remember the last time I felt that bad. I must have moaned, "Never again" at some point and actually meant it.

I'm sure this was a huge coincidence, because whenever I tell people this, they look at me like I've just said something along the lines of "and just after I discovered cures for ALL diseases, the space aliens came and told me they already knew that!" Anyway, oddly enough, the first time I DIDN'T have a hangover after a night of drinking was ALSO the first time I threw up before going to bed! After vomiting, I stayed up another hour or so (to be on the safe side), and felt GREAT when I got up the next morning!
I've been told to drink bloody mary mix (without the alcohol! lol) the next morning, but I've never tried it myself.

Finally a post I can be of actual use for. Here is my cure for hangovers...and it works. While drinking, drink an equal amount of water for every amount of alcohol. And that would be by volume. Obviously there is more alcohol in a shot of bourbon than a beer. Therefore, volumetrically speaking, you would need to drink more water while drinking bourbon than while drinking beer. It's all about the concentration of alcohol. Hangovers are caused from lack of moisture to the brain due to dehydration for the most part.
Most citrus fruits, raw vegetables and especially tomatoes and carrots funnel moisture to the brain. Granted. you need to consume these while drinking to benefit.
Contrary to popular belief, fatty and greasy foods will not help a handover. Actually they are counter productive. These type foods will hamper the ability of your body to absorb the much needed liquids to fight a hangover.
With that said, here's my hangover relief... Lots of water while drinking. Eat a citrus fruit during drinking. Take a pain reliever once or twice while drinking. Try to awake 3-4 hours before having to be awake and drink a liter of water. Get up and eat good breakfast. By now you should be OK, but the breakfast you eat should soak up the remainder of your stomach contents.
By then, you should be OK. Trust me, I've made this work for a LLOONNGG time. Rick

Never had a hangover in my life, and I'd agree with the staying hydrated advice. I always drink bottles of water before hitting the sack and have always woken up allright, although in need of the bathroom BADLY.

Athough I do not advocate getting drunk in any way, I will add my thoughts.
There is a pill out here called 'Chaser' for every few drinks you have you take two, and supposedly no hangovers in the morning.
And, if dehydration is the culprit, stock your fridge with sports drinks, basically the sugary version of 'Pedialite'.
