The real problem with having a hangover, is that you wake up from the party you were at last night, and there's a new party going on in your head, a real loud one. But you ain't invited, are you???

Why is it that hangovers get worse as you get older? I used to be able to drink 6 nights a week get up early every morning and go to class! (maybe I never sobered) The worst hangover I ever had was after a feed of Guinness followed by a few half uns of Tullamore Dew, Didn't matter what I tried to eat or drink, it never stayed down long enough to help!
The best cure I ever had for a hangover though was giving it up, which came as a big surprise to the family and friends.
There was a Drug launched in the UK this year to help hangovers, it was apparently developed by the Soviet Union to issue to the KGB to stop them from getting drunk, it didn't work though the side effect was that stopped them from getting hangovers

Many years ago ,live on TV, while sitting in a bar, I was asked for my Hangover cure by the local station, it was New Years eve and I was supposed to be at work, my cure went like this, paracetamol for pain relief, Ibuprofen to stop the brain swelling, 2 pints of water for dehydration, orange juice to repair my vitamin C levels and vitamin B, alcohol is a diuretic it both dehydrates and depletes your vitamin levels, but most of all that another drink It's the only cure that works.
I was sacked soon after Now that's a hangover.

I also support the water-theory. Usually I start drinking water toawrds the end of a party/ pub night... However, a glass of milk in the morning is a very bad idea for me. It's much better to stick with water or coke. The bubbles seem to help. As far as food is concerned, I either eat pickles or french fries. Or both.

I'm lucky.. I rarely suffer from hangovers. Even if I don't drink water before bed I'm usually fine. (To be honest I tend to wake up still drunk rather than hungover) It really annoys my boyfriend when he drinks less than me and wakes up feeling terrible while I'm fine the next morning.
Anyway, back to the question: On the few occasions that I have had a hangover I've found that anything greasy works a treat (bacon sandwiches etc). One of my friends swears by orange Fanta as a hangover cure. And I've also found drinking lots of water the morning after tends to help.

Y'all are gonna laugh, but I discovered this by accident, one day when I had a hangover that lasted until waaay after noon--Take a dose of Pepto-Bismal, then, about 5 minutes later, a dose of Nyquil. When I *did* this, I was looking to sack out and sleep it off, but---glory be!---it perked me right up and I was able to go in to work that evening! (dangit!)

I stumbled on to an unusual hangover cure (actually something that prevents hangovers or reduces the symptoms)when I saw a news article about Prickly Pear cactus extract. Research showed it significantly reduced the symptoms if taken beforehand. I investigated this extract further and found there are numerous other health benefits as well. I am impressed with this stuff.

I wonder if eating prickly pear jelly would help? I've eaten that lots of times, but never for hangovers.

I always found (back when I used to drink enough to get hangovers) that apple juice really helped. Hangovers are largely the result of dehydration, and apple juice helps restore the imbalancce of electrolytes that can result from dehydration.

A couple of slices of Vegemite on toast (full of vitamin B) and a glass of orange juice. It does work!

I had a biology teacher once that said to take two muti-vitamins before going out. This gives you the extra vitamins and minerals to balance out what you lose during drinking. I also drink a glass of water for every few drinks I have. It works great.
