Over the years I have heard reports of the deaths of a number of famous people only to see them alive and well on TV some time later.
Three I actually remember were Vivienne Weswtood, the designer, and the actors Sam Kelly (who I actually saw in person having tea in a theatre he was performing in when according to the paper I should have had to wait till I passed over myself!) and Gary Waldhorn, in Brush Strokes at the time of the report, and most recently in the vicar of Dibley.
The amount of publicity given to the original reports was never reflected in the lack of withdrawals, particularly if on TV or the radio, where I never remember hearing any apology and presume they just hoped we would forget it as soon as we found them to remain 'with us', so to speak. Well I, for one, didn't forget. If I hear someone died, they go on my mental list, and therefore I am then very let down by the slack reporting when I find one by one these people to be perfectly OK (though extremely relieved as well).
Does anyone else remember any of the three reports I mentioned from the UK, or any others as I know I'm not imagining it, and need some more confirmations to prove to me I hadn't entered the Twilight Zone instead.

I've had the same "is that person dead or alive" situation myself! I finally started looking on the Dead People Server to make sure I wasn't killing someone off unintentionally! It's a fun site to peruse; has a lot of interesting info on lots of people.

I seem to recall a national news station reporting Richard Nixon's death several months before he actually died. They ran it on the bottom of the screen in that annoying little ticker thing that scrolls.

I really like the Dead People Server, I've looked up quite a few folks there.

Armin T Wegner (1886-1978) - In April 1933 this writer and journalist wrote to Hitler pleading for an immediate halt to the government's anti-Semitic measures: not surprsingly he was sent to a concentration camp, but released in 1934 - thanks partly to a sustained campaign by the "Manchester Guardian".

He left Germany, but had great difficulty finding a country of refuge. Ultimately he went underground in Italy and lost all contact with friends in Germany. Perhaps one can imagine his feelings, when in 1947 he saw a photo in a newspaper of a memorial that had been unveiled in Germany in memory of writers who had perished as a result of Nazi oppression ... His name was on it!

As I know Reality shifters like to be quoted, here's one from there

SCIENCE TEACHER ALIVE AGAIN
Bev
Windsor, California

My husband found out an old science teacher of his was alive, and went to see him after he thought he'd been dead for years and everyone, EVERYONE, agreed that they had heard, read or saw in the paper and on the news that he'd died several years ago, and were all surprised to find that he was still in town and very much alive.

I remember that Senator Ted Stevens in Alaska died on the Juno plane trip along with other politicians and that Senator Nick Beigach had lived. That was years and years ago. But then I was startled last year to read about Senator Ted Stevens in the paper and find that Nick Beigach had died in that plane crash. No one remembers but me.

So it does happen exactly as it did to me!
I've noted that website the next time I'm not sure, all these weird things tend to come in groups, which is another totally unexplainable aspect. Maybe the 'Lazarus effect' could be the new name for it?
