Well, this thread gave me good practice, as I'm now about a month into my new weblog, which is an online diary. So I post very similar things there that I do here, and can also add pictures and naughty words/comments that would never be allowed here! (I don't use the naughty words, but if provoked enough by life then the option is open). The highlight of today (honestly!) is identifying a car number plate I photographed yesterday. Anyone from outside the UK who didn't know what our term 'anorak' meant when applied to a person, take note of this post for a perfect example. I'll go into full detail to illustrate the Vulcan-like accuracy most anoraks insist on. Plate, black on yellow, front and back, car was right hand drive, no ID seen on it. DPL 1-06 When I got back home I used my incredible book 'Registration plates of the world' and used its format index to get a list of countries using any format you've seen. Now this, spotted in the car parked in front of mine in a back street in Battersea, was all the way from Guyana, and not an ordinary plate, but issued to one of the few (maybe 20) Guyanese diplomats assigned to the UK. Often it's the more trivial things in life that can be the most pleasing...

Oh no. I'm replying to myself yet again, that is so embarrassing! Anyway, it's a goodnight at 4am, and the high was I have (did anyone know I was a fan??) just met and spoken to 4 Big Brother housemates at their annual leaving party, as (unlike last year's effort) one by one they all came out to speak to their adoring public.
They were all very nice, and more or less exactly as you'd expect them to be from seeing them on TV. I met (in order) Kitten, Becki, Jason and Daniel, and if I'm very, very lucky may just get myself on the 'have you been on TV' thread next as when Daniel came out he was being filmed for one of the follow up programmes, and they filmed me speaking to him. Considering a month ago I was feeling cut up as I'd been literally evicted from an eviction (they give away twice as many tickets as are places available) now I've actually met four of them in person (complete with all their autographs). I think I made up for it a hundred times over, and a thousand if they use the bit on TV. I couldn't find out when it would be on (typical) so I'll just have to watch every E4 and C4 programme following the housemates in the coming weeks. Amazing, I meet 7 Funtrivia members for the first time, and then 4 Big Brother members in the same week. Life can be funny like that at times...

Congratulations!!!! I think there is far more satisfaction in accomplishing something for yourself than doing it for someone else or for a place you work.
It is still too early to have had my highlight of the day, but for yesterday it definitely was talking to my intended on the phone. That is generally the highlight of every day.
I only have about 5 more weeks to work, and am extremely happy about that. Even though I do like the place most of the time, and enjoy being a manager most of the time, there are days when I just don't want to be in charge.

Moo, you mentioned your forthcoming event, how about starting a thread to tell us all about the process of applying for the necessary permissions/visas and the like? It would be interesting to hear all about the red tape from a personal perspective, one of our politicians recently married a Russian bride and it took him about five weeks of hassle. Others could find the information invaluable as well as interesting too.

Congrats Jane! I'm glad school is going well! As Moo said, it's accomplishments that we do for ourselves that mean the most. My highlight of yesterday was getting my acceptance letter to be readmitted into school. Since I took Spring semester off, I had to reply. WHICH I didn't know I had to and I've been stressing over the time-line of getting into my classes. Now I have to meet with my advisor and see if my classes are full or not. My low for yesterday was not being able to rest and sleep. I had planned to drive the 30 miles to my computer store (I still haven't had my computer looked at. ugh!). But since I couldn't get rest, I couldn't go. I'm heading over to the chain games to re-join the fun there! Joy

Hellllllooooo! Hellllllooooo! (I don't remember this echo before!) Where is everyone?? I'm at school trying to get my classes. I am late doing so because I had to reapply. I've got two classes! Yippeeeee! But some classes I need are full. I must contact the professors. My computer is still broke. I can't get to the computer store to have them even look at it. Working full time and getting everything ready for school is taking up all my time. I miss having time to read all the threads and posting for hours (did I just admit I did that?? ) I miss everyone and hope all are doing well. Take great care! Joy

I haven't ever posted to this thread before, though I've read it quite a bit. My life can be pretty mundane at times, and I realize that when all my highlights center around what new, adorable thing my daughter is doing, people can get pretty sick of it pretty fast. But...
It isn't really goodnight for me, but I may be saying goodnight rather early the next few days, so figured I should post now while I could. I had quite a highlight today. I got to come home from the hospital, minus one very inflamed appendix. I'm going on 28 years old, and have never had any type of surgery except dental, and I've only been in the hospital once, when my daughter was born. (And I can now tell you that the Maternity ward is quite a different experience than post-surgery!) Turns out the stomach pains I had on Sunday and thought were just an upset tummy were not, and at around 4:00am Monday morning I was in surgery. Yippee! When a gentleman came in to my room Monday afternoon with a little breathing tester thingy (to help ward of pneumonia) and said I'd probably never done anything like it before, I responded that I had had a lot of new and not-so-wonderful experiences in the last 12 hours. Now, I just have to figure out how to explain to my toddler that I can't pick her up for two weeks...

Can I admit to being a slob? I just got up and it's 1pm here... but I didn't go to bed till 4... had a lot on my mind and stuff to sort out - have got into an awful sleeping / not-sleeping pattern over the last few months.
Day so far - boring - I need a new job quick!

Hi fay_mc!
I understand about sleeping/not sleeping cycles! I get off work at midnight and I LOVE to stay up till I can't think anymore. I had to be at work early today and I STILL had trouble making myself sleep. But finally I did sleep. I got about five hours. That's better than none!
Next month I will have an 8 am class two times a week. I will have to sleep right away then!!
Hope you get more rest tonight!
Joy
Editing to add:
I'm still around but geeeeeee no computer at home is no fun! I should be (finally) taking my computer in!
Happy Friday the 13th!!

Replying to myself...eh?
Well, I didn't sleep last night...I stayed up trying to write a song...nothing came to me...I got tired of that at about 3 a.m. and then decided to work out for a while...that lasted another couple of hours...then I went back to the music. Not much has happened since then...I'm working on web pages...making a pretty cool one for me and my brother...it'll be finished very soon, I'm having fun with it.
I'm gonna stay up again tonight, try to work on the song again... I guess that's all I've got to say!

I don't know if this is in the spirit of This Thread. But here I was. I fell down hard last night and I may have broke something. Very painful. But, then, just to take the concern off of that, my friend writes to tell that her husband really has been diagnosed with cancer. And I was thinking: some days just open and others just close. But, in between those, there are days that change the world in some way. And I hope I didn't sully up your discussion...

Of course it's in the spirit of this thread Gats, it's somewhere we can all share everything. I was really sorry to hear all that happened to you, these things do often seem to happen together, and I hope you and your friend's husband both do OK. And please do let us know how you're both getting on here as well.

Gatsby, this is exactly what this thread is about. Sharing our days and how they go. How are you feeling this afternoon? I'm sorry to hear you're in pain and your friend is sick. Quote:
And I was thinking: some days just open and others just close. But, in between those, there are days that change the world in some way.
That is really insightful. Last night would not close for me. I was so tired and so restless. I couldn't sleep even though I needed to get up early. Well, I didn't get up early but I finally slept. Some days all you can do is go with the flow. Even if it's not the flow you want.
Hope you feel much better soon, Gatsby! Joy

My friend will start chemotherapy next week. He called today. And I told him that he will meet the best friends he ever made as he does this. My Father used to say (when he was going through it): "We're all in the same boat, I guess. We're just wondering how fast ours is sinking!". I really liked my Dad's buddies in Chemo. I've never seen such better attitudes. So, anyway, we'll just see how this all goes this time. As for my fractures they matter little. Given a couple of days they'll heal. But I wanted to write here as you were all so gracious.

I hope your friend does good! My Grandmother died of cancer quite a few years ago. That doesn't sound encouraging, does it, I hope you don't take that the wrong way...My Grandmother's cancer was found late, so there wasn't much of a chance for her. Quote:
"We're all in the same boat, I guess. We're just wondering how fast ours is sinking!"
That's definitely true, your father sounds like a great man, Gatsby.
Well...Not much going on here, hurt my leg on the four-wheeler today. I live out in the "boonies" and was going down what we call the Power Line Trail. I hit a nasty bump that made my leg slip off the four-wheeler. That resulted in my leg getting dragged across the ground, me losing my focus, going off course into the woods, trying madly to steer away from the trees. I ended up with a badly scratched leg, and a nice big cut on the side of my ankle, not too bad.
I still haven't finished my song, but hopefully It'll fall together soon. I've got all the melodies and beats, I just need to fit it all together.
If you haven't already seen it, there's a Creative Writing Competition in the Challenge forum. I invite all of you to take a part in it. Hope I get a couple entrants at least.
That's about it, so I guess I'll write again when something else happens...
-theoryman14
P.S. I hope all of you are doing alright

Not quite morning here but first item of the day on here anyway! I haven't had a lot of note to report for a while, everything here, highs and lows, seem to be in the air, as anything which might happen hasn't materialised yet, which in some areas could be a good thing. But as yet, the high is that none of the lows have happened, if that makes sense, in that there were storm clouds hanging about on the horizon, but none have meant business so far. The other positive area is I just had a check-up in the gym, and have been given a new set of exercises that might actually make me look like I've been going there. They certainly make me feel like I've been there, compard to what I was doing before.
