Having checked through the music threads I see no mention of one of the most entertaining(imo)groups of the70's & 80's,namely The Tubes. With song titles like "Attack of The Fifty Foot woman","White Punks on Dope","Mondo Bondage"and "Slipped My Disco" these guys wrote and performed intelligent and satirical songs a far cry from the manufactured pop(or should that be pap) of to-day .Apparently their stage show became legendary and eventually their popularity led them to suppoort Led Zepplin.
According to their website they are still touring in America. So does anybody else remember Fee Waybill,Bill Spooner,Roger Steen etc or better still has anyone ever seen them live especially in their heyday.

I only had a couple of singles by The Tubes, so last year brought the hits compilation "White Punks On Dope", which is really rather good! Chatting to a friend a couple of months ago I discovered he had actually seen the Tubes when they visted the UK some years ago. I have recently had to buy a another copy of the hits CD as my friend borrowed it and is enjoying hearing all those tracks from the past! Wish I had had a chance to see them live.....

Thanks for replying Popsicle,I was begining to fear that this music board was frequented by absolute "Philistines".The first Tubes single I bought was "Sushi Girl" (the lyrics are full of inuendo),taken from The Completion Backwards Principle album. What a great title for an album!I recently purchased "White Punks On Dope" and yes it is rather good, shame I probably won't ever see them live either.
