I wonder if any of the Nth Americans can tell me if the whole Krikket and the key bit was changed at all? Would seem to be a lot in that part that wouldn't be understood by non cricketing countries.

Hey Copago,

I'm not sure I understand what you mean...Did they change the book because some north americans might not understand?

I don't think they changed it because I have three different copies of the book and the "Krikkit Incident" is the same in all three...I'm from Alaska in case you're wondering...

If I have completely mistaken your question...well, go ahead and ask it again...

Oh, by the way everyone. I have some quizzes on Quizzyland about the Hitchhiker's Guide. Type in "Hitchhiker Time" in the quiz search and you should find them, they need some love...

Read all the Hitch-hikers series but soooooo long ago i can barely remember the last couple apart from odds and ends - the definition of flying as "throwing yourself at the floor and being distracted enough to miss".

From what i can recall one of the books is basically a romance but with Adams's surreal spin on things.

I'd also recommend "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency" by Douglas Adams. Sort of Hitch Hikers but with less Space and more weirdness. Quality.

... and while I remember I vaguely (1985/6 ish) recall an interview with some of the TV cast (Arthur & Ford i think) -where they were talking about recording the second series (starting from "Life, The Universe & Everthing").

It sits in my memory because they were on about filming at Lord's or The Oval and the difficulties of getting a Chesterfield Sofa to materialize.

Am i losing my marbles or did some filming actually take place and the BBC pull the plug for some bizarre reason (probably cash)??

I don’t know “The Hitchhiker’s Guide,” but the bit about the Chesterfield sofa sounds like the Monty Python sketch about the England v Iceland test match at Lord’s (“Get your hand off my thigh, West!” etc)..

Yes, they did make a movie of The Hitchhikers Guide...I haven't seen it.

The ability to fly lies in the knack of being able to throw yourself at the ground and miss.

I quite enjoyed the Dirk Gently novels...yes....quite

They did make movies about all four of the original hitchhiker books and the movies were a success. However when I watched them they seemed very weird and different from what I imagined. Perhaps the hitchhiker series is not the kind of series you can easily transform into a movie.

I have the books, the tv show and the CD'S of the radio, and all three have different plots, I was hoping that he was going to come up with 42 different things.

Hey ASA...do you know where I can get the movies or TV shows, because I'd really like to see them!

So, anyways, I guess maybe it's time for another poll...I deleted one of them because I didn't mean to make two! I was on a i-MAC the past week, and I really don't like them!

Wow, if you'd like to share a testimony as to how #42 touched your life, I'd like to hear it! (No Math Class Stories Please)

If you think this is weird I can stop messing around and shutup at any time...just ask!
