Anonymous No longer registered 1, 6 and 6 is no good either'cause the sum is 13 (odd number)youngest has red hair implies that there is a sole child (not twins). I cannot however find a better solution than 3,3 and 4.i think gtho4 is correct Top

It takes a bit of deductive reasoning. Why each bit of information is important...,Just a small hint, you've already made an incorrect assumption.------------------Insanity is hereditary. Now that I think of it, if a building has 5 windows, and 3 floors, then the total can be 15. An odd number total of windows is possible.Sadly, I have nothing other than a few new sets of numbers:1, 1, 361, 2, 181, 3, 121, 4, 91, 6, 62, 2, 92, 3, 63, 3, 4these all meet the mathematical requirements... #22982 - Mon Apr 17 2000 08:43 AM Re: How old are your kids? mentor Explorer Registered: Wed Apr 12 2000 Posts: 86 After counting the windows, Jim still didn't know the ages. This eliminates several possible age combinations, because their sums would be unique. Two combinations of ages however, have the same sum:1,6,and 6 equals 13; and 2,2, and 9 equals 13. Once Jim learns that one child is the youngest (i.e. not a twin), he knows that the ages are 1, 6, and 6. Top
