Help!

My extended family (in-laws) have asked for a list of things I would like for my birthday. I only have until Tuesday, and I'm not sure what I want. (Besides a big sack of $20s)

The only thing I can think of right now is the new George Michael CD.

What Cds and/or DVDs would you ask for? I already have the LOTR series, Harry Potter, etc. What would be your top 3 choices for your birthday?

Hey Moonsong, you just missed being a Gemini. Oh well, Cancers are nice and not quite so schizy. As a matter of fact, today was my birthday. My kids (11 and soon to be 13) gave me the LOTR Trivial Pursuit game and took me out to Burger King, all they could afford after getting the game. The game has pewter playing pieces and the game board is quite nice. Ask for the game, it's well worth it

I like DVDs of television series such as Have I Got News For You - my all time favourite. That one isn't going to mean much to you in the US. My daughter bought me the latest one for last Christmas and it is hilarious.

How about some old films, like the Audrey Hepworth ones, or comedies like the Carry On series. Even some of the newer comedies are good.

Silver I love you!!! I bought the new George Michael CD from the UK and love it. I've been a huge fan since forever and turn into a raving groupie whenever I see him despite being a somewhat sensible late 20 something

I ask for gift certificates for a book store/Amazon.com. This way I am thrilled with the present and can get something I really like, instead of having to fake enthusiasm over something I was given that I am not fond of.

Buy the cd by the way. It is excellent, with a very good selection of songs. I'm hoping he goes on tour in the US and will scream like the girl I am.

I am quite easy to buy for, either vouchures for my local bookstore so I can buy my own choice of audiotape or a jigsaw!

Happy Birthday

I've never been a big fan of gifts...they make me a little uneasy for some unknown reason...I guess I don't like the pressure related to buying and receiving things in general...which is why if anyone asks me what I want for my birthday I say nothing...if they won't accept "nothing" as an answer...I'll say beer...if they think that a beer's a little too "cheap" for a birthday gift...I say a slab of beer...

...that way I either get a slab of beer or they leave me alone

Well, we went to the Cheesecake Factory for, what else... cheesecake! The Godiva chocolate cheesecake is sinful.

I didn't actually ask for anything specific this time, so they had to get resourceful *hee* THey went back to my christmas list and got something from that, and I got money as well. My dad called money the universal gift certificate. I am going to go buy the George Michael CD, because I have been waiting for the Listen WIthout Prejudice Vol 2 for so long.... (even though that isn't what it is called)

I also received several DVDs - Casablanca, Sex & the City season 4, Dr. Strangelove. I also received the Myst 3 pack (Myst, Riven and Exile).

Even though I had to work all day, it was still a good birthday. Thanks for all your suggestions.

No one ever asks what I want. Everyone gets me cows for my collection. I've probably got over 600 now - figurines, candles, wall hangings, etc.

I've also gotten a Manchester United shirt the last 2 birthdays, and didn't have to ask for those either.

I haven't asked for anything.. boyfriend got me season 2 of "Star Trek: Voyager" on DVD though... I wish I was going to be at my old job for my birthday... it's going to be weird with all these new people (it will be day 2 for me) wishing me happy birthday when they have no idea who I am...

I think money is the best thing, because that way you can go and get exactly what you want.

Like my Birtday is coming up in April and I like animals, but I never get anything on animals I always get something that my friends or family like

hi all
i am coming up on my 74th birthday on the 16th of this month (march) and following a practice i think i recall from the hobbits, i give stuff around my birthday to my family and my friends. usual gift would be say 15 books that i have good reason to think might interest the person, once in awhile some vhs tapes according to what i have bought and which i think might be of interest. cds are less commonly given since i tend to have bought the classical music i have been wanting the most, for myself i also buy piano scores and computer stuff. although i have to be careful buying things for myself since i will be returning to a 13 foot by 13 foot room back at the washington state veterans home in retsil, wa (across the sinclair inlet from bremerton, wa, and just about a suburb of port orchard. how soon this will be, don't know but have to get rid of another ton of stuff.
some day i hope to buy a digital piano with earphones so i can play at 0300 hours.

Ah Dr Bob, I should have known you were a Pisces!
Well, the digital piano is an excellent idea and my dad's got one and once I got back here to the States, asked me if I wanted the 'real' piano in my home as my kids play as well as myself. We did, and he just plays it when he drops by. Then, he takes that keyboard one on trips in the motorhome and can adjust the volume so as not to bother people.
He composes pieces on it and scores, and so, it's a great idea.

Fingers crossed for the piano idea...it's much better for that small a space.

hi bruyere
is perhaps wordiness a strong characteristic of pisces? for i do display that every now and then.
i was a teacher-principal in brienne-le-chateau, aube district in france--this was in the early 60s--, where were you in france? (it was a NATO base and i served in the dod school system).
while there, i bought a gorgeous red Jaguar XKE and was amazed that the French drivers fully expected me to zoom way ahead of them so i would; even though at the time i was not in military service, every time i went through a gate with MP's, they would always salute me as i drove majestically through. what fun.
i did find it hard to keep my lights off for so long, but would sometimes stay behind a car until it turned on the dimmers, at which time i would also. several times when i was going through some small town, if i forgot to dim my lights, the town's lights would blink until i conformed.
another sweet memory was i went to a local restaurant for a sunday breakfast and, perhaps, because i was the only one there, the cook came out and he taught me set et demi (spelling not certain) which was a card game and i stayed long enough that he gave me lunch.

I think I have asked for Red Dwarf DVD's for the last couple of years for my birthday. People find it exceptionally hard to buy me stuff because I generally go out and get whatever I want.

I have been told to wait until after my birthday to get what I want, however I do believe I have asked for a good watch this year (even though I stopped wearing one regularly several years ago)
