I don't know about the workings of AOL but found
this. I expect this is the method you used?
I'm also not sure if AOL uses the same cache (Temporary Internet Files folder) as IE. Does anyone else know?. It might use it's own folder for these files. So, when the IE cache is viewed in Windows Explorer, you perhaps aren't looking at files left behind after deleting the AOL cache.
To delete the Temporary Internet Files in IE it is probably best done from within the program:
* Tools > Internet Options > General.
* Hit the 'Delete Files' button in the 'Temporary Internet files' section.
If you look at the Temporary Internet files folder in Windows Explorer after that, you will still see a good number of files left. These are the cookies. IE cookies can be deleted either from within the IE program, or by deleting them in both the Temporary Internet files folder
and the Cookies folder. The Cookies folder is also located in the Windows directory of W.98.
If you do this, you will have to enter usernames and passwords again for forums or other sites that require it. Log in information is stored in the cookie put onto your computer by those sites.
Edit: It seems AOL does use the
same cache as IE (see heading 2). AOL just puts it's own interface on the existing IE rather than it being an entirely different browser.
