You're talkin' about me here.

Socially I'm dumb as a brick, but my memory is more solid than anything I've ever designed.

I grew up playing with Transformers.

So mine are:

1. W
2. M
3. L
4. S

Major hint: What do I do for a livining

*sings* One of these things is not like the other....

So I'm a little lost here, but I'm gonna give this a shot. How close am I?

Weight - The force on an object resulting from gravity

Mass - A property of an object measured by the degree that it resists acceleration.

Load - An external force. The term load is sometimes used to describe more general actions such as temperature differentials or movements such as foundation settlements.

Stress: The intensity of internal force acting at a point in an object. Stress is measured in units of force per area.

I would say L(oad) is the odd one. The other three have to do with the object itself, and L is dealing with an external force affecting that object.

Am I anywhere in the ballpark? Heck, can I even see the ballpark from where I'm standing??

edited because it read mass as a dirty word since I tried to bold the m and censored it

Nope. We never talk in terms of mass and we usually write things out.

The answer can be found in AISC Manual of Steel Construction

Or you could call a steel fabricator.

While your at it, please explain the concept of a female Transformer. especially since Optimus Prime was he only one that could reproduce other robots.

I cannot find anything online, so I will have to run out to B&N and find a copy of the book. IF they have one.

************************************************
This comes from Mr. SM...

He says it is really mental, not how they are built, and has nothing to do with their physical features. There have been several female TFs over the years that are not "sterotypically" female (curvy, pastel, etc... they're not all Arcee). Strika was a gigantic tank-thing (she was from Beast machines), and her robot mode was... hard to describe (that series went for some very interesing "robot mode" designs), but her voice was female, and was always refered to as such. There have been several new female Transformers in recent years, and most of them have been recolors of older "male" toys (Bumblebee, Tracks, Cosmos and Gears now all have "female" counterpart toys). Transformers have very human voices, mannerisms, personality traits, emotions, etc. So some just end up "female".

(During Beast Wars, mind you, because they took on the traits of organic creatures, the line was blurred just a little. There was a lot more implied romance and physical attraction between some of the male and female characters. But that's all about 300 years after the classic series, and the technology was certainly more advanced. Thugh the series writers themsleves never said there were little TF babies running around)

It has nothing to do with reproduction (unless yo utalk to those who like writing TF smut, which is not something you really wanna do if you value sanity on any level), it is how their brain patterns got made. As for reproduction, there has been quite a lot of different continuities, and often with different methods of making transformers, assuming they ever get around to explaining just where anyone came from. Sometimes it is Prime, but only because he has the Matrix. Sometimes they can just build them and hey, they're alive. Sometimes their "sparks" (souls) come from a vast well of them, the "allspark" where all come from and eventually return to.

20 years of toy-advertising fiction will net you a LOT of different standards.

Don't worry about it.

That particular book can only be found in a uninversity library or bookstore and cost $150.
Pretty expensive doorstop unless you're into steel design or construction. I use it daily.

I'll try to dig up a link later, otherwise tomorow night I will post the answer.

So solly, yuck, yuck, yuck.

Your teeth are going to rot with so many cookies.

W, M, and S to the untrained eye are identical. All three have a top flange that is equal in size to the bottom flange.

An L looks just like an L.

I've specified more W sections and L sections than I'd care to admit to.

Your turn, Pretty Lady.

An unrearched shot in the dark, and I say Superman because he was not born on Earth.

Wonder Woman is the only human?

Aquaman talks to fish?

Duh, the one is Hawkgirl because her powers are artificial and the others are inborn.

You a Marvel kinda guy?

I like Wonder Woman and Aquaman. I was originally going to say Batman rather than Aquaman, but Mr. SM said that might be too easy.
