Jean Gray is so hot...and neurotic.

And how can you not like Snake Eyes?

New one:

1. Darius
2. Salladin
3. Artaxerxes
4. Cambysses

Ahhhh.... Saladin is the odd one out.

The other three were Persian Kings. Saladin was a Kurdish military leader and ruler of Egypt.

Name ------------- Date ---------- Persian Name

Cambysses -------- 530-521 BC --- Cambujieh
Darius the Great --- 521-486 BC --- Darryoosh
Artaxerxes I ------- 464-423 BC --- Ardeshier Deraz Dast

Less than 45 minutes!

That conversation we had earlier clue you in?

Bonus points if you know the empire they ruled.:)

Quote:

Saladin was a Kurdish military leader and ruler of Egypt.

Not to mention the greatest hero of the Moslem world who protected the Holy Lands from the Crusaders.

Your turn, lass.

Yes, it did clue me in.

And everything I can find says it was called the First Persian Empire. However, I also see a reference to a Mede-Persian Empire. It says, "Cyrus was the founder of the Mede-Persian Empire. He conquered the Media, Lydia, and Babylonain Empires."

Was that what you are asking?

And I have an idea for a new round, but I need a little time to do some research. I'll try to have it up tonight.

That was the specifically the common thread.

Three of the names were emporers of the Achaemenid Empire.
Where as Saladin was 1500 years and another faith later.

Persian are very proud of their history. The late Mohammed Reza Shah Pahlavi was very big into connecting his reign with antiquity.

I'm not sure if I will see the new Colin Ferral movie, Alexander, because the subject matter might me offensive.

Anyway, I just thought, IMHO, some interesting tidbits make this game more along the lines with the quizzes and more fun.

Learning something new is always fascinating.

I am still going to work on the one I have in mind, not sure if I'll get it to the point where I can post it, though, so here's one to work on while you wait.

ANH
HBP
ROTJ
ESB

maybe this one will be easier than Aquaman....

Food for the Sr Wars geek, ma'am?

ANH = an excellent movie that debuted on May 19, 1977 by George Lucas
HBP
ROTJ = another excellent movie buy George Lucas, released in May 1983
ESB = considered the best of George Lucas's master piece, this work was in the theatres in May, 1980.

As always, Master Lucas releases all his movies the weekend before Memorial Day.

The final installment will be released on May 19, 2005, the day before my fifth anniversary.
I know a great cinema in western Pennsylvania that will be showing that movie at 12:01 am.

ROTJ, to those born after 1980, was where I got my screen name.

So HBP is the odd man, because I have no idea what that acronym means.

Duh, Battle

HBP = Half Blooded Prince

That's the forthcoming Harry Potter movie or book.

I should've recognized that from the CB boards.

At first I thought this would be easy.... now, maybe I have to look a little deeper...

I thought it was going to be Michigan, because of their colors.

Syracuse Orangemen (Orange Rush!)
Auburn Tigers (All Auburn, All Orange!)
Michigan - blue/yellow

then..

Southern Mississippi - Golden Eagles..

so am I still looking?

My screen name comes from a movie that was re-released in 1997.

All the names I mentioned have successful Div IA football programs.

I'm trying to figure out the link between Return of the Jedi and the football programs. I knew it was about football, since you are married to a football widow *heh*, but I'm just not that great with football stats (who won what, when, etc..).

Think about individual conferences.

Try a finding a NCAA football related website.

I didn't realize this one was so hard, especially for a Gator fan.
By the way, I hear they taste like chicken.

I'll distill the smash into moonshine.

Which one of the the school I mentioned was not a conference champ in 1997?

You shouldn't have to research the schools. Only research me.

Looks like that would be Auburn?

This one was difficult for me because I don't really get into all that. Yawp, I'm a Gator Fan, but I really don't follow anyone else, and I don't pay attention to who won what conference what year, especially when it isn't the Blue and Orange.

1. Southern Mississippi - 1997 Conference USA Champs
2. Michigan - 1997 Big 10 Champs
3. Auburn - I din't think I was driving when they won the SEC last
4. Syracuse - 1997 ACC or Big East Champs

1997 was a very important year for me.
In addition to the re-release of the greatest of the greater movie trilogy ever, my 16 year old cocker expired, I graduated college, I moved out of the family nest, and I adopted my big lab/pitt.

Only way I knew about the conference champs was from Yahoo.
I thought that might have been more fun than another engineering question.

Plus, I'm counting down the days 'til football widow season starts.

Whenever your ready to hke the ball, Eli.

Emaleth
Squeak
Amber
Tigger

A pity I didn't see this before I got of the phone last night,
I don't think I've answered your questions in less than thirty minutes...

Quote:

We have 3 cats and one dog. The cats are Emmie, Squeak and Tigger, and our dog is Amber.

I'm going to gather Emaleth is Emmie more formal name.

Tigger is that beautiful avatar of yours.

So I will say Amber, because she is your twelve year old golden retriever and, ironically, my best friend.
Although my Amber doesn't shed near as badly.

Thank you ma'am,

Your turn.

The Will Rogers Follies
Rent
Dracula
Pump Boys and Dinettes

I expect this one to be simplistic for you, so make it a touch more challenging and to stimulate conversation, you need to tell me why I'm interested in this subject.

Umm.. Battle, I think I get to stump you on this one. They are all Broadway musicals. They are all directed by different people, all in different theatres, so I am guessing you were thinking Dracula was the odd one out? If so, Check out the Internet Broadway Database. Dracula, the Musical previews in 2 days, and is scheduled to open on Aug 19 at the Belasco theatre. The official website for the show is here.
