Think closer to home. It has to do with a person, rather than the medals themselves.

Audey Murphy won all but the Distinguished Flying Cross, but I'll say the Purple Heart because George Washington's face is on it and there are no faces on te others.

I did nt see anything on this link:

http://www.funtrivia.com/gunslinger.html

But I will gather Gunslinger won the Distinguished Flying Cross becvause you mentioned being a military brat and lived in Florida which has a billion Air Force Bases.

I will have to check on the Medal of Hoonor which the records are widely known.
The other's would be harder to find.

On the other hand, your father might have won them all except the Medal of Honor in Vietnam.

Since you are almost there, here's a link to help you out...

Gunslinger

Although they mention him in the Korean war. It was changed in the paper version, but apparently not online.

I am also fairly certain he was never stationed in Florida. I know he served in Alaska for a while. We moved to FL after the divorce, and dad stayed in NJ.

Your father was a distinguished hero but did not win the Medal of Honor.

When you said FT, I figured your father.
I was kinda busy to research Medal of Honor winners. They are few, far between, and rumor has it they walk on water.

What did he fly?

Since we are on the USAF, we'll try this:

Sabre
Thunderbolt
Thunderjet
Mustang

I'm not sure what he flew, but a story he told me once is kinda funny. My dad was color blind, so they would use him in 'Nam to find the camouflage, where the enemy was hiding. Since camo uses color to disguise, he simply saw it for what it was - netting and such. They would take him up and have him point out where it was. He could see primary colors, which means he could still pilot, but other than that everything was shades of white, grey or black, I think. I know he saw pink as grey, and he saw dark shades of colors as black (like hunter green... ). His wardrobe consisted of shades of white, black, and red.

Oh, he had a picture of an F-100 as his avatar, I do believe, but I'm not sure that is what he flew.

Only one Thunderbolt was ever in USAF service.

The uber-tank killer A-10 "Warthog" was originally named the Thunderbolt II.

Fairchild/Republic loved thunder so its greatest aircraft were the Thunderbolt, Thunderjet, Thunderchief, and Thunderbolt II.

Kinda like Grumman's fascination with cats, hence the Wildcat, Hellcat, Bearcat, Tigercat, and Tomcat.

The answer to this one lies with the late, great Gunslinger's war record.

Okay RMG,

Silver Moonsong is having compuer problems, and this one has been outstanding for four days.

Sabre F-86 Sabre was a jet that saw combat in the USAF during the Korean War.
Thunderbolt P-47 Thunberbolt was a radial engine prop fighter that saw combat in the USAAC during World War Two.
ThunderjetF-84 Thunderjet was a jet that saw combat in the USAF during the Korean War.
Mustang P/F-51 Thunberbolt was a inline engine prop fighter that saw combat in the USAAC during World War Two and USAF during the Korean War.

The answer I was ooking for was the Thunderbolt because it did not fight the Korean War.

New one:

Valiant
Vanguard
Victor
Vulcan

I just don't know who cough, RMG could possible get this one.

Thanks for a nice easy one Battle.
The Vanguard, for more than one reason.
1. It was a Turbo prop
2. It was a civilian airliner
3. It was not one of the RAF's V Force of nuclear bombers.

Next set, and back to dogs:
1. Pekingese
2. Chow Chow
3. Italian Greyhound
4. Maltese Terrier

Not to mention the Vanguard was an RN ballistic misile submarine.

I'm gonna guess that the Italian Greyhound is the only one that is short haired.

No answer (as usual for me ) but I wanted to say "Welcome Back, Battle!" OK. You all carry on now. I suck at this game...

Go figure a worthles comment from someone who's avatar is of a radial engined fighter. (Think reasons why the USAAC decommissioned the P-47 Thuderbolt during WWII while the P-51 soldiered on into the Korean War.)

Glad to be back, Gats.
