What did you all think of this movie? I'm a liberal Democrat, and I enjoyed it. It was very moving, too, though I definitely recognized some propaganda techniques at work. Does anyone think it will have an affect on the election? It had great music, too.

I just saw it the other night. I wasn't surprised by anything in it, nor shocked. It was pretty much what I had figured myself after 9/11 and the botched elections before, though much more in-depth about people and companies that I'd never heard of. I especially liked the Nineteen Eighty-Four reference at the end... that's just what the current "War on Terrorism" is like.

I saw it today and I'm still dazed. Living in the Gulf, I feel very strongly over Bush's policies (No need to wonder in what direction) and really wish that this movie could be seen by all American Voters. I thought that it was very well made and is one of the best movies released this year.

I saw it yesterday and found it profoundly disturbing. I know that as robyn says there were propaganda techniques used, but there was more than enough information to back up all the claims that Michael Moore made.
It was very moving indeed. I think EVERYONE should see it.
How can these things happen in a country which prides itself on a fair and just democratic system?

I have not seen the movie yet, but I have heard about it. I don't like politics at all... I am neither for or against Democrats or Republicans. I think americans really made a mistake putting Bush into office, but I would have said the same thing had someone else been elected, because no matter what side you're on, you're going to make mistakes as President.

I am disappointed with all politics, it's sad we need them at all, but I am especially disappointed with the liberal democrats and their actions.

I hope someday, that politics will be eliminated from our country...

dream on...eh ?

I haven't seen the movie yet, because it isn't out in my country for a little while. However, I've read Moore's books 'Stupid White Men' and 'Dude, Where's My Country', and I'm guessing the movie will be along the same lines. Is it?

I for one am NOT a fan of Moore! I can't stand the guy. Actually, I created the quiz "You Have Got to be Kidding Me" due to him.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Bush fan at all. I just think that Moore could have made his comments - after the fact. He's been against Bush since day one pretty much.

Remember last year at the Oscar's and he pretty much got boo'd off stage. Steve Martin came back and made jokes about him. Most everyone clapped his jokes! Then Linda Ronstadt got boo'd off stage and got tossed out of the hotel in Vegas.

My comment is that Bush was elected President of the United States. Regardless if it was by me or someone else. He is our so called leader and we should back him up.

My son is fighting over in the middle east right now, no, I'm not happy about it, but he's serving his country. That makes me proud.

I had so many different comments on my quiz, that I was asked to speak my mind in here. Not usually in this area... but this time I had too.

and... no, I wouldn't give one dime to Moore! He caused a stir up in Michigan before... he just likes rocking the boat.

Linkan,

Please thank your son for me and my wife.

My father-in-law is a diabled Army vet.

I tried to service my country, but was disqualified medically.

I am still recovering from a nasty Chat Board incident involving Michael Moore.

Need I say, the event was so traumatic that I uddered the sacriledge "I don't care"?

Regardless of Mr.Moore, your son is doing something that is indeed proud.

David

Thanks David, I will!

I just know that we had to do something - or more twin towers were coming down.

Thanks again!

Forgive me, but my wife showed me this article about the movie.

I'm not sure of the Forum's rules about posting links or full articles.

Here it is: http://www.counterpunch.org/jensen07052004.html

I saw the movie a couple of days ago, and I was shocked by some things but not by all of it. I admit that shortly following 9/11, I was hoodwinked into "believing" Bushy, but that lasted only a few months. I now know what happened at the elections, 9/11, and Iraq.

My heart went out to the soldiers at the end of the movie who don't know why they're in Iraq. It's pretty sad when they don't know they're in a war.

I'm glad Michael Moore made this movie, it confirmed everything I believe about Bushy.

I saw the film last week and am not sure what to think of it. First of all, I found it very hard not to get confused, because of all the people and companies that were mentioned. Hard to keep track of all their relations. Moore seems to be able to back his statements up with facts, but I can't stop to think that it's a very one-sided story, without any chance for Bush to tell his side of the story.

I don't think anyone should back up Bush, just because he's their president. Everyone can make mistakes, so can a president and we shouldn't close our eyes for it. But the way Moore presents Bush's actions seems a little too much.

Although I don't like Bush at all, I don't agree with how the film (or should I say Michael Moore?) tries to blame him for virtually anything. He's the president, so what's he to do? Sit back and do nothing? He had to do SOMEthing. To me though, that something should have been restricted to Afghanistan, and as Moore pointed out, there's not much of a relation between 9/11 and Iraq. If Bush wanted to attack Iraq so badly, he shouldn't have done it on account of 9/11.

I too found the parts that "starred" the soldiers very moving. Nothing but praise for them, you can impossibly blame them for the fact that Bush wanted to invade Iraq. They're just doing what they're told and I have a lot of respect for that. My cousin is currently serving in Afghanistan, and even though "serving your country" isn't as big a deal here as it is in the US I'm very proud of him. I can't imagine what it must be like to have a relative in Iraq, I hope your son will return soon and safe Linkan!

All in all I think it was a thought-provoking movie, but certainly not one that should be believed without further ado.

There is no possible way I will ever praise this movie or Michael Moore. He creates hysteria, only tells half of the story, and causes hate in America. I am a conservative, and 100% support Bush, all the way. President Bush may not be a perfect man in many ways, but I do not see how any other person could have done a least bit better when it comes to America. There are some facts in this movie, I’ll admit it, but there was also a bunch left out, and he did it on purpose, to cause propaganda. Basically what I’m saying is I do not recommend this movie. You’ll love it if you’re a “liberal wiener” (democrat) but will hate it if you’re a “right wing nut job” (republican).

There's also that someone may praise it not because of what people say in it, but solely because of the way the movie was put together - like framing, voice-overs, etc.

I still haven't seen it...Waiting for DVD.

On a side note, I believe there was a theatre in the Netherlands that was billing it as something like "See, Fly, Die" or something like that (I think the third word is something different). I think that's a bit crass, in my opinion.
