I went and saw the movie this afternoon and I can't really say that I'm crazy about it. The special effects were as good as usual, but something about the script didn't really gel. I thought the parts about Peter Parker suddenly losing his spidey abilities and then suddenly regaining them without any real reason were not very good. The train scene where Siderman stops a moving train were well-crafted. The movie flowed well, with some interesting cut scenes and good editing. It seems that a sequel is almost definitely on the cards. One can't leave such a gaping hole in the story without making a sequel. A Return of the Green Goblin is worked into the script fairly well with the young guy (forgotten his name) learning that his father was the original Green Goblin.

By the way a new series of Spiderman comics are going to be released in India with Spiderman's real name being Pavitr Pabhakar. His costume is also going to change.
Has anybody else seen the movie?

haven't seen it yet, but it should be good

I'm a big fan of the comics
so I have to say that if you follow those storylines
everything in one and two makes sense

In the comics, Norman Osborne was the Green Goblin
his son Harry Osborne also does some Green Goblin duty
but eventually becomes Hobgoblin

I feel the part with Spidey and Hal Sparks in the elevator will be funny

so many future villians in this one!
Wolf-Man, the Lizard and another one I can't remember are all introduced.

May 4, 2007 is the release date for Spidey 3
Sam Raimi, Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst
are all signed up already for it.

Saw it tonight; this was the best movie I've seen in a long time! I was entranced througout the whole thing, and I can honestly say there is not one bad thing to say about it.

If you go to the theatre, however, expecting to see a purely action movie, you may be in for a bit of a shock and maybe a trifle disappointed: there's more to Spidey than just a masked man in spandex a-whuppin' the bad guys' butts. The writers did a fantastic job with the script and portray breathtakingly the psychological torment Peter Parker took on when he gave up his dreams, his happiness, and his girl for the betterment of mankind.

I'm not sure what you meant in saying that Spider-Man "suddenly loses his spidey abilities and then suddenly regains them without any real reason". They made it quite obvious why his abilities failed him and why he was able to get them back: In this sequel, as he begins to feel weighted down by the responsibility of his alter ego, Parker begins to doubt his choice which is brilliantly metaphored with Spider-Man actually losing his unique abilities. It is only after speaking with Aunt May (in a scene much reminiscent of Peter's discussion with Uncle Ben in the first movie) and the threat of harm coming to Mary Jane that Parker comes to realize the choice his heart has already made, and gains confidence once again in his decision to be Spider-Man. With Parker's renewed confidence, the mental barrier he put up against his "Spidey abilities" is conquered and he is once again able to be Spider-Man. This was all explained in the movie.

Five stars for this movie!

I've heard that Spiderman2 is not as well made as it could be, mainly from my brother, who is a huge fan.

He said it was pretty good, but could have used some work. I personally have not seen it, but might today.

I took the kids to see it on Thursday and I liked it, the kids loved it. I thought it was better than the first and was pleasantly surprised that I liked either.

Yes, I also enjoyed the second Spiderman movie better than the first. But the first was also quite good.

The storyline was great and the special effects much improved.

I look forward to the DVD.

When the first Spiderman movie was released, I wasn't all that interested in going to see it, (I'm a Superman fan), but Spiderman has alway been my husband's favorite since childhood, so I went to the theater with him: I did like the movie.

However, Spiderman II has changed my whole atttitude towards the comicbook characters. I loved the movie! Halfway through the movie last night, I leaned over to my husband and whispered that I changed my loyalties to Spiderman. I think this movie was far better than the first one and I am looking forward to seeing Part III. It's good to know that Tobey and Kirsten are going to stay with the characters. It wouldn't be the same without them.

When this scene came and Peter put his feet on the tracks, the first thing I thought was, "Peter Kent? Clark Parker?" It looked so much like Superman... I didn't mind, though; don't get me wrong here. I hate this comparing of the different superheroes. I like them all in their own way, and besides, Superman would actually have stopped the train.
Seriously, I enjoyed the movie very much. The action and effects were brilliant, the acting was good, and depsite what some people say about superhero movies, it DID have a plot, and it DID pay attention to the characters. It was a perfect sequel - it had its own storyline but kept referring to the first movie, and I was absolutely astonished when Willem Dafoe suddenly appeared. I guess I'm right in supposing that Harry will resurrect the Green Goblin...?

The filmmakers and actors did a great job!

Pearl----here is a supreme spoiler----in the comics Harry Osborne became the Hobgoblin!! So him becoming haunted by his father/green goblin.

Also Peter's professor is an homage to the Lizard in the comics. My husband had to point this out to me. I never even noticed the professor only had one arm in the movie. Shows how much I pay attention.

correct, Dr. Connor becomes the Lizard
J. Jonah Jameson's son...John becomes the Were-Wolf
and Harry Osborne becomes the Green Goblin
the Hobgoblin is actually someone else

from a Spider-Man Marvel comics nut

Thanks for the heads up Andry. From a non comic book nut the information is very helpful. We grilled a Spiderman fan and comic book nut after the movie. I must have gotten my wires crossed.

I cried throughout the entire movie.

Pete visiting Uncle Ben's ghost.

The refrences to foreclosure and not being able to keep a job resemble the last few months of my life.

For a while there, I even lost my "super powers" by not being able to work in my field.

We all can relate to Spidey. His powers are symbolic of the strengths and weaknesses in all of of. His struggles are our struggles.

Even the three baddies, Norman, Harry, and Doc Ock, are relatable people.
I was upset to see Doc Ock and Norman die.

My favorite scene was when MJ skipped out on her wedding and runs to Peter.
She tell Peter that she wants to decide for herself if the dangers of being his mate are worth it.

yeah, possibly the best use of 'tiger' by MJ ever

plus I like Kirsten Dunst
and the fact that she just broke up with Jake Gyllenhall
gives me hope

(yeah, right, I have no shot in hell)
