Who's your favorite quiz author, and why?

I think my current favorite has got to be UglyBird:

http://www.funtrivia.com/quizlistgold.cfm?player=uglybird

All sorts of gems to be found there, and some dry humor that I like.

I have quite a few favourites but
Richicago has some hilarious pun-type quizzes in Cryptics- the Krazy Klues series, featuring his mother-in-law, Knuckles. A real groan-a-minute stuff!

I have several favorites:

Robert362 (he always hits a topic that I find interesting)
linkan (I can't get enough of her Movie quizzes)
thejazzkickazz (I'll second that---his quizzes are both informative and always letter perfect. AND they cover lots of different things)
MotherGoose (I never do too well on those but they are always fascinating to read)

The Jazz, uglybird, ace_sodium(cricket quizzes), wimm(superb science quizzes), minch(geography), elanor, leodavinci, and most of the LOTR quiz framers.

What can I say, the list goes on and on.

JaneMarple, jouen58, Jazz, Robert, TabbyTom, spanishliz, JuniortheJaws, DakotaNorth, NalaMarie, and draculanut31--I watch for their new quizzes, and if I know anything about the subject, I'll take it.I enjoy uglybird's sense of humor, and I've never taken anything by bullymom, Skunkee or MotherGoose that wasn't excellent, either. As soon a I post this, I know I'll think of a load of more. It's just not impossible for me to pick one favorite author. I've just taken so many great quizzes, in so many categories.

Me too! Me too!
I'll add bruyere and islingtonian to the list of favorites. Actually, if you re-phrased the topic "Who's your LEAST favorite quiz author?", I'd have more problems coming up with a list -- there aren't any!

Jazz is the reason I was pulled on board a long time ago...I used to admire his quizzes as Ikebana flower arrangements of random choices. I'd never mind if I got five out of ten as long as I admired the form of the question. Of course he's improved since then...

I also have had the pleasure of welcoming a few of the aforementioned folks as quizmakers, so I have to say I admire them all for their varied talents.

Jouen58 is one of the most incredible writers I know here too.

Inquizition is an old friend who really makes superb quizzes.

Musicmonkeyman is an up and coming writer to watch.
Fringe is exceptionally talented at crafting questions too.

I think what I admire the most is the craft.
I'm privilieged to have seen a couple of the writers mentioned in this thread when they began submitting quizzes.

My favorite is silverginger for his Manchester United quizzes. Not only are they fun to take, but I have learned quite a bit about the team from taking the quizzes. He always provides excellent information about each answer.

Let me start by saying that I almost didn't make a post here because I thought it would be too difficult to confine the list to just a few and I didn't want to offend people by omission.

However, I have to agree with almost all of the above posts. There are a few quiz-makers whose quizzes I haven't played because their favourite topics are not mine, but as an editor, I know they have a reputation for their excellent quizzes.

Let me return the compliment to Gatsby and LindaC007. I enjoy your quizzes too.

SOME of the other quizmakers whose quizzes I really enjoy include Jazz (of course), uglybird, jouen, crisw, miaow, minch, Auszev and Robert362.

Edited to add: Terry asked us to also include reasons why. The people mentioned above have the ability to come up with some really original and unusual themes (which I love). I personally enjoy a quiz with a quirky theme, like Jazz's "Esoteric" quiz, much more than a pedestrian quiz based on an episode of a TV show like "Buffy" or "The Simpsons".

I personally never make quizzes on popular topics like "Harry Potter" or "Lord of the Rings" - I'd rather create (and play) quizzes that are "different" or unique. (Which explains why so many of my quizzes are languishing without a rating! The topics are too obscure, I guess! LOL)

I also like quizzes where there is really good trivia or interesting information and most of the abovementioned quiz-makers provide that. I don't care if the quizzes are tough or if I score poorly in a quiz if I come away from it thinking "Gee, I didn't know that. How interesting!"

All the quizmakers I have mentioned have the ability to submit quizzes that require little editing, are well thought out, well researched, informative and, of course, enjoyable to play.

Since I'm a Star Trek fan, I have taken most of the quizzes in the Star Trek category, and in that category I would have to say my favorite is robmeister. I really like the way his quizzes are structured and how he has a lot of interesting info. after the answers.

In other areas, I just have to second and third and...(you get the point) of people who have been mentioned already, such as thejazzkickazz, crisw, and others. Come to think of it, they're all great!

Good job to everyone for great quizzes!

I would have to say that my favorite quiz authors are in no particular order:

Jazz
LindaC007
Ozzz2002
DakotaNorth
Uglybird
Linkan
Gatsby722
Professorjon

Now as to why I like their quizzes:

Jazz's quizzes, are always superbly done, and while I may not be familiar with most of his subject matter, I always come away learning something new and interesting.

LindaC007, I edit her quizzes in Celebrities and she is an excellent author, her quizzes require little editing. As for why I like to play her quizzes: They are well written and she thoroughly researches her subject matter, and she has a free flowing style of wording that makes her quizzes read very well.

Ozzz2002's, while he may not have a lot of quizzes online, and most are to do with Australia, I like his humour in his quizzes. Even in his "Scrabble" quiz, I have to chuckle at how he worded things and the information given truly does help when playing even just board game style scrabble. Also, have learned much about Australia from playing his quizzes.

DakotaNorth, I like her criminal quizzes as when she writes them, she tells a story and she is never short on interesting information. With DN you are sure to get an insight into why said crime was committed.

Uglybird, fantastic, always interesting and the sense of humour is amazing!

Linkan, well what can I say, I am partial to her quizzes no matter what. However, I have edited her quizzes and played a good bit as well, she is a very funny lady and her humour shines through in her quizzes.

Gatsby722, again when it comes to humour Gats is amazing. He has a great style of writing. Now I would love to see a combined quiz effort between Gats and Linkan...now that would be great!

Professorjon's style of writing that I like very much. He is clear concise. A great quiz author.

I know there are probably many more, but those are the main ones.

And all are on my "watch list".

I used to like Coolupway's quizzes - He was a great proponent of the 3 S's:

Sarcasm
Sensationalism (Now, is that a word?)

Just a few that come to mind:

Jazz
uglybird
Linkan
musicmonkeyman
richicago
Skunkee

But I think my favourite is Islingtonian, his sarky sense of humour always cracks me up. Even if he's never answered a PM of mine.

That's in no way an extensive list so please don't feel offended if I left you off.

Agnes, one reason that I have so many quizzes in Celebrities is that it has been my great pleasure to have had you as the editor on many of them. I know this thread is on our favorite quiz authors, but I don't think that good quizzes are possible without good editors like Agnes, Lisa, Agony, Jazz, Liz and Heather--just a few of the excellent editors I have worked with over the years on FT.

Thanks LindaC007 for the compliment, it really means a lot.

I just finished playing this quiz, Gatsby and Linkan Tag Team. I have to say this is amazing! Very nice, excellent in fact!

You guys are so cool! Just think of all the new quizzes the two of you can do!

Gatsby's turn now. We're having so much fun with this. He's doing movies and then I'll be doing the television shows.

Look at the possibilities out there!

Thanks for the plug Agnes!

No thanks are necessary, even if you and Gats were not part of my favourite quiz authors, I would still have to give the quiz the recognition it deserves...Kudos!

Okay, Gats what's next?
