Alright, the show for the summer for me is the Amazing Race. Did anyone get a chance to watch the show? Any favorites of the teams? Who do you think could pull this off?

TAR is the only "reality" show I can stomach. I was disappointed that the nice guy finished last but , uh, it is a race. I was glad the cousins made it past the first round but I don't think they have a shot at going very far and neither does the old military man and his daughter. It's too early to get a feel for the best teams but I am glad to see the show back on. It's a lot of fun.

I only caught a few minutes of it. And there's a new "Big Brother", too. Just when I thought the TV was best turned off....

Yeah, I watched it, I was pretty sure that Alison and Donny were going to do good, and they did. I wasn't a big fan of Alison on Big Brother, but I kind of like her on TAR.

Finally, something to watch when the kids commandeer the computer.
Too early to say who I'm rooting for. Not impressed by the brothers or the girl who kept saying the M word instead of Little Person. I say hooray for the girl, she may be small but she kicked butt last night. I'm not clear on everyone's names yet, but I'll be tuning in next week.

Did you see her strap on the slab of beef and haul it? She put her cousin to shame. I was glad they did well but disappointed that they seemed to be upset about coming in fifth. Fifth is a great spot.

So did anyone tune in this week? Would you have perro'd or tango'd? One of my friends is a very big fan of the show and decided that should she and her husband enter this the only thing she couldn't do is eat exotic foods (remember the octopus tentacles from last season) or be in the water with the potential for sharks.

I just enjoy following the exotic locales and would have a hard time not taking a picture of the surroundings and blowing the lead for my team. I liked how the cousins took the time out to do a quick tango before dashing out the door.

Any thoughts?

I don't know what I was thinking, as I thought the next episode was on Thursday. My sister set me straight about it being on Tuesday nights. Thankfully, it's on again tonight at 8. I'll watch for sure. I only wish they allowed Canucks in the Race. That would be a good angle, Yanks versus Canucks

I watched a little of it - I would have taken the dogs as I have walked 5 dogs at once, so 8 shouldn't have been too bad. Plus, they all looked more well-behaved and not sled dogs like I walked! Add that to the fact I can't really recognize faces, I'd definitely do the dogs.

However, I would have made sure my partner was also good with maps, unlike the couple that lost Saturday.

I was mad at the bowling moms for lying about changing money, then mad at the father and daughter for believing them. You'd think you're going to go onto this show, you'd look up all the 'major' countries and see basic information. Anyone would tell you, especially with the economy in Argentina, that they take US dollars.

And for those who didn't know Spanish (although it seemed most had a basic understanding), I *think* you could also try German (and English), because Argentina sort of has an odd relationship with Germany, and has a number of German immigrants from WWII.

Oh, I'd like to see the French v anyone else - I'm wondering if they would try the local languages.

For some reason, nobody has been replying on this thread. I can't understand why, given that The Amazing Race is such a popular show. Anyway, what do you think about that new twist in the game?

Just wanted to say that despite her handicap (and I don't mean her height) Charla just rocks and is quickly becoming one of the most endearing contestants ever on the show. Her handicap is called Mirna. Despite Mirna, they have been one of the top teams so far and a team to be reckoned with.

I'm with you,MBLF. I think Charla can do whatever she sets her mind to. Mirna, mmmm, hope she doesn't blow the game for them.
As far as the twist is concerned, should be interesting to see how they make out.

The last show was of special interest to my son. He had done a report on Giza and was amazed to see the true proportions of the pyramids and the Sphinx, reading sizes isn't the same as seeing someone standing near a structure. This is part of the appeal of this show, takes us places we'd love to go.

Alas I went back to school for continuing education for my job and have class on Tuesday & Thursday evenings. Between writing essays for class and staying atop maintaining a household and normal job I haven't had a chance to watch this show. I've had to resort to visiting cbs.com and reading through the events.

But I do have to say I'm very impressed with Charla and her ability keep her team afloat because god knows Mirna can't. And Chip turned out to be such a nice guy, helping everyone with their tasks and managing to keep in the race. I'm hoping Charla makes a strong finish but that would mean Mirna would have to share in the prize.

I would have a hard time playing this game and not stopping to "ooh" and "aaah" over what I see. I would have been snapping pictures at Evita Peron's gravesite, filming the pyramids and Russia. I love the fact that the players get to do things and see things most people wouldn't be able to. Being a voyeur on their experience helps me to appreciate the world and make everything that much closer for me.

Sebastiancat, the programme from Tuesday night is aired again on Saturday and Sunday nights. Since I'm on cable and up here in Canada, I'm not sure which stations you'd catch it on. Check your local listings for it and hopefully it airs the same down there, in PA.

I'm a bit torn at who I'd love to win. Charla deserves it but, as you said, she'd have to share with Mirna. Although, Mirna has surprised me since she apparently seems to speak Spanish and Arabic. If she would just stop whining and saying she can't do something before she even tries.

I like Chip and Kim. They seem to be so genuine, just plain folks on an adventure of a lifetime and enjoying every minute of it.

Chip & Kim or Charla & Mirna should win. I think that the reason some people don't like Charla is because they all thought "Oh, she's just a (little person), she can't do anything", and Charla proved them WRONG!!!!!

Marshall & Lance gave it their best shot, but those knees were too much for them. Did they have it coming to them?

I'm bummed out. They were doing so well!

I am really unimpressed by the young man who couldn't eat the Ostrich egg. Weak gag reflex, my Aunt Fanny! What a wimp.
Can't wait for the next episode!

I just saw a little bit the other night and I no longer think Charla and Mirna should win because of how they behaved (telling the guy not to sell tickets to the other Americans because they're dangerous).

I think that was a bit over the top.

LadyM, you must have missed where the girl tried to block the entrance to the airport so that Charla, Mirna and the Bowling Moms couldn't get in .
The other teams did get their tickets, the guy at the travel agency laughed when Charla said that the others were dangerous .
I'll miss them, they used their wits and were enjoying the adventure. Now I'll root for Chip and Kim .

After eating that caviar and that ostrich egg, I bet Chip really misses American food! Colin and Christie should be eliminated next.

Colin needs a good kick in the keester. The man has the nerve to mouth off to a cop in Africa ? Colin may think he can do what he wants since he has a cameraman there, but the guy had better watch himself. I wish they had put him in a cell, maybe then he'd stop being such a horse's behind.
His girlfriend should read "The Cinderella Complex" and dump Colin, quick.

Go Chip and Kim!

Well, my son no longer wants to return to Malta, someday. Now his dream vacation is to go to New Zealand to White Water Sledge and go Zorbing (spelling?) Can't say I blame him. I think it would be a hoot . Those Zorb things would be a great way to use bunny hills at ski resorts, in the summer.

Go Chip and Kim!

I am soooo glad that Chip and Kim won!!!! I am also so glad that Christie and Colin didn't. No offense to them, but I really thought that they were way to agressive. Did anyone else catch when Colin and Christie were coming in last, after they were yeilded by chip and kim, and they were in the taxi. A couple villagers were waiting to cross the street and Christie said , "Oh, just run them over, it dosn't matter, they shouldn't be there". Now that was a little extreme. I loved Brandon and Nicole also! I'm surprised no one else has commented on them. I love them!

Amazing Race is my fav reality show. I'm glad that Chip and Kim won. I wanted Brandon and Nichole to win but Chip and Kim were second.
I definatly did NOT want Colin and Christy to win at all. They were mean, and very immature, especially Colin. Maybe it was just being under pressure that made him like that...who knows.
Brandon and Nichole had the lead at one point but then lost it and came in last...very sad. I wish they had at least come in second...oh well.
Congratulations Chip and Kim!!!
