I am going away in August for a few weeks. I have found that in my webbased email site (Care2.com) there is a handy little button where you can leave a reply to anyone who emails you during the dates you are away. Is there a thing like that in OE? Also what should I do when I am shutting the PC down for a holiday? I usually just run my Norty and clear my history. Anything else advisable? Is it really advisable to unplug the whole thing?
Sorry if these seem daft q's. Thanks.

This isn't a feature on Outlook Express, but it sounds like a good idea. The alternative is to send a note to each friend on your list.

I would definitely unplug the computer if going away for more than one day. It saves electricity and the possibility of a nearby lightning strike frying the innards and causing a fire. When you get back your ISP or e-mail provider should have a few thousand messages for you in the queue.

Have a happy vacation!

Ditto that, also make sure you have unplugged the telephone line to your computer or surge protector, I have lost a couple of modems and surge protectors through overhead storms and whereas I suppose that is fine when you are going to be using it but not when unplugging is no inconvenience.

A possible objection: that will tell spamers they have a valid address.
