Yes I know, as I wrote a little lower in the text - what I meant was that there should have been another one like damnsuicidalroos suggested where she would again, after getting out of jail, be ordered not to see him, and then put into therapy to deal with the new life now.

You cannot do things like that if you are going to pretend to have a free society. I notice that you live in Spain, by the way--where the age of consent was 12 until 1996, when it was raised all the way to 13. I am surprised that you have such reactionary views when your country is so progressive.

Yes, you can order people to do things like that. Look at half the family law or abuse cases that go before a court - many times the two parties are ordered to have no contact.

Same thing with cases where the two parties could get together to 'agree upon' a story.

Point is, you can order people to have no contact until certain conditions have been met.

If you don't like it, you can always find another country.

(As for your point about Spain - notic ehow they *raised* the age.)

ladymacb, of course they *do* it. That's not news. The government violates our human rights on a routine basis. That doesn't mean we have to pretend it's acceptable. Vili is 21 and there is absolutely no justification whatsoever for the court to have any say in his life whatever.

I concur with Sue---the biggest thing they had going for them was at the time of the affair this was secretive and taboo.

Um...were you there?

Isn't their a syndrome (Stockholm or something like that) where the victim comes to associate and aspire to love the perpetrator?

Yes. However, this typically applies to individuals like Patty Hearst who are abducted, raped and brainwashed. Even Letourneau's worst critics, if they have an ounce of intellectual honor, would scruple at comparing the two.

Ask Vili.

OK. Look. That's enough. I can't listen to this anymore. You are not addressing a "peculiar love affair" (and those do happen) but what you are championing is some case for child sexual abuse. That you don't see the difference between the two is beyond my grasp to explain to you or anyone else. I find your thinking offensive, rude and, now, attacking to others on this site. If saying so gets me booted off here, then so be it. I'd rather be booted than have to read your junk. Enough said, I guess.

This thread is closed. FT did have a Controversial Issues forum, but that is now past tense. There are plenty of sites on the net which cater for debates/discussions/whatever; this site isn't one of them.
e.g. http://www.opendebate.com
