I was drinking in a bar in Amsterdam last night and the conversation got around to 'Doctor Who', who liked it, hated it etc. But exactly how Doctor Who is remembered is very strange. I can guarantee that every time you mention to virtually anyone that you used to watch this programme, someone will turn round and say "ooh yes..but didn't you used to watch it behind the sofa?"
Well no, quite frankly I didn't and i'm very sure that hardly no-one ever did either. This has just become a popular urban myth in my opinion. But just as a matter of interest, did anyone here from Forumland ever hide behind the sofa while watching Doctor Who?

Yes I did

Or to be strictly accurate I pretended to hide behind the sofa, while peeping round the side.
I even remember watching the very first episode.

Dr Who was resurrected on tv here a few years ago, and i have to admit that i'm really into it Never had to retreat to behind the sofa though...not that we have a sofa. The props department did really well considering that the brief for each episode was probably 'Right, you have to create 38 scary robot men out of this pizza box and 6-inch square piece of foil'
