Okay add all the Bowie you want...I have no problem with that. Not big on Taylor, though.

My absolute favourite song would have to by November Rain by Guns 'n' Roses, and then the version by Nick Cave and Enya of (Don't Fear) The Reaper

Classically - Beethoven's 6th which raises the hairs all over & fills me with an overwhelming strength, vibrancy &tears of joy at the beauty of the world
Instrumentally - Maggotbrain(Funkadelic) - the most perfect lyrical expression from an electric guitar which layers, builds & screams its way through the universe
Lyrically - Time(Floyd - say no more)
Overall song - hmmm need to rethink

It's always difficult to choose between so many extraordinary musical creations but let's try...
My #1 best song ever is Protection - Massive Attack/vocals - Tracey Thorn.
I like the tune - perfect mix of sounds and spaces;
I like the lyrics - written by Tracey when her husband Ben Watt was helplessly lying in a hospital bed, not knowing if he would ever come out of it

*Tracey and Ben were Everything But The Girl - remember "Missing"? *

And finally, Tracey's voice is an outstanding performance.
---------------------------------------
I also have other #1's on different categories:
- Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21 in C major - with a special mention of Movement 2 (Andante in F major), which raises my hairs all over like Beethoven does to maggotbrain

- Anything by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (the only sounds that can really transport me into another world)

The song that has been my favorite for the longest time has to be Maggie Mae by Rod Stewart, but I agree that November Rain is also a great one and so is Bed of Roses.

Oh yikes! That's a hard one. I'll have to pick a top five favorites, since I can't decide between them.

Lets see... I like "Not Ready Too Make Nice" and "Travelin' Soldier" by the Dixie Chicks, (I'm going to cheat and count those as one since there've by the same group ) "Take Me Home Country Roads" by John Denver, "North to Alaska" by Johnny Horton, "Big Iron" by Marty Robbins, and "Echo Mountain" by James King. That still leaves out a lot of my favorites, but it'll have to do.

Come on, no one has even considered Steppenwolf's "Magic Carpet Ride" or Foreigner's "Juke Box Hero". Forget Beethoven.

My favorite song at the moment is from Taylor Hicks' new cd that's coming out December 12th. It's "The Runaround" and I can't stop listening to it! It's so catchy! If you want to listen to it it's on taylorhicks.com or myspace.com/taylorhicks

I highly reccommend it!

Did anyone notice that almost every song posted is a classic rock song?

My favorite would have to be Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. I just cant help rocking out to it.

My favorite song is "Wind beneath my Wings". Bette Miller is a great singer with a heart of gold and this song is exactly what I sang to my mom for Mother's Day.

Now if you're asking for my favorite song I would tell you "Goin' To California" by Led Zeppelin but as for the best song ever, as in ever written, I would have to say Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata".

The best song ever is Midnight Rider by the Allman Brothers.

The first time I ever heard it was the night my divorce was final. I drove from Iron Mountain Michigan to south of Detroit and picked it up at some point around 3am. It sounded perfect in my '66 Ford 100 series, on a crisp clear night.

A song about the greatest thing above all else, freedom.

So many songs that everyone loves and songs that have special significances/sentimentalities attached to them...

I used to get so pissed when people asked me what my favourite song was, I was always like, "Ffs, it's impossible to pick just one!"

But I picked a favourite a couple of years ago and I've never regretted it or wanted to change/replace it. While there are many songs that I listen to more often or that 'mean' more to me,

my favourite song is "99 Red Balloons" by Goldfinger.
