My favourite song became "Les Fleur" by Minnie Ripperton. It wasn't just because it was a great song, but that my hearing it coincided with my meeting the most wonderful person I have ever met, and perhaps will ever meet, Rosie. God bless her, and God bless Minnie Ripperton for providing the soundtrack to the happiest days of my life!

I would have to say anything Madonna. It's way to hard to pick just one song by her.

Someone earlier has mentioned songs by Tori Amos. I would have to put a vote in for most of her songs, particularly "Precious Things", "Professional Widow" and "Spark". On a similar kind of vein, except some years ealier, I would also mention Kate Bush's early songs such as "Cloudbusting" and "Running Up That Hill".

there is always a song that you love the most. What song is it and why?

With respect to the topic question rather than your own I am going to address the topic question.

We all have a favorite song and the song I have in mind I'm sure at one time or another has been one that made us all happy. It's never been a hit or on the charts. When heard it's sure to put a smile on someones face.

I'm sure the original question was a query about "pop" songs. Albeit this song is not a pop song it is popular.

What is this song?

Well, this is a trivia forum so I think I'll wait till tomorrow to give my answer. If you wish to venture what song I'm thinking of before then (and I've faith that you know) please post.

Happy Birthday puts a smile on everyone's faces...especially if your carrying a present while singing it.

My favorite would probably be "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea" by Neutral Milk Hotel. I mention Neutral Milk Hotel so often, but their two albums were simply breathtaking, and "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea" is the highlight of them all.

Coming in a close second is "First Day of My Life", by Bright Eyes. A simple love song, but amazing nonetheless.

Which one Lacey? I think you finally zeroed in on Happy Birthday.

Now to one of the best songs ever or maybe my favorite for the message it delivers. "I Hope You Dance". If you have not listened to this song lately you should and listen closely. A song that always keeps you looking to be humble, look forward to tomorrow. There is such a wonderful story and message to be heard in this song.

And when you get the choice
to sit it out or dance

I hope you dance...

I hope you dance...

EDIT:
This is in the "County" genera. I know there are some that are not fans of country. It's not so much the musical style of this song that appeals to me as much as what it says. It could easily have been done by a pop artist and the same wonderful message would speak.

Without a doubt in my mind, the best songs ever in my opinion are in the following order:

5. Open Arms- Journey
4. In the Living Years- Mike and the Mechanics
3. Whiter Shade of Pale - Procal Harem
2. Nights in White Satin - Moody Blues
1. Turn the Page- Bob Seger

By the way, I'm a newbie, my name's Jo, I love Classic Rock, I'm in school to be an Audio Engineer/Record Producer, and all of the previous song choices are brilliant!

Very difficult to say, I like "The Rain Song" by Led Zeppelin, and "Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd, "Cowgirl in the Sand" by Crazy Horse.
