I haven't counted, I always have several books on the go. As I have already said elsewhere, I always take a book to bed and read until I fall asleep, then I read again if I wake and cannot get back to sleep. Bathtime is reading time plus when sitting in front of the television. I just love to read. Stick me in the 10 to 20 range per month.

Being in school, I don't find much time to read anything but the academic books; nonetheless one novel or a compilation of short stories each month is always possible. Well, Harry Potter can't be excused with lack of time. I read three books a month of Harry Potter when I discovered them.

pulling up an other old thread

I love reading, and been reading a lot since I was a kid so I'd be in the 10+ books a month category. There are so many interesting books in the world and no time to read them all .

This describes me too. Except I guess I'm doing about one a week. Even though I read alot? I am a very very slow reader.

I am always reading. I usually average a book at day.

There are usually too many things which I have to read for me to have time for much recreational reading. I read newspapers, though tend to skim through most of the articles, and also read articles in various professional, financial and scientific magazines.
I also look up various facts and articles in a variety of reference books, such as geographical, historical, travel, religion, etc, but rarely have time to read novels.
When on holiday though, it's a different matter, and I always take several novels which I thoroughly enjoy. I usually leave these behind for the enjoyment of others who may follow me, and this helps to reduce my weight allowance on the return flight.

I'm definitely in the 10+ a month group! Learned to read by the time I was 4, having been read to since infancy by both parents and 3 older siblings. I consider myself a "bookaholic" - I MUST have something to read available at all times - if I'm eating lunch alone and have nothing to read, I'll sometimes spend almost the entire lunch break searching for something new, leaving little time to sit and enjoy it while I eat. I always have several books "in progress" at any given time - one for lunch breaks, one for the living room, one for bedtime reading, plus alternates if I get tired of one I'm in the middle of. I reread old favorites - including mysteries - and can hardly wait for new installments of series. My niece first started reading the Harry Potter books, which piqued my interest, and now I'm more into them than the kids are!
Sometimes it's hard to tear myself away from reading in order to get other things done!

I'm pleased to say that the reading gene has been passed down to the next generation in my family - my niece (age 15) and nephews (16, 13, and 7 years old) all enjoy it, and the youngest nephew (1 year old) loves being read to by his big brother (the 7-yr-old). I remember when my niece was a toddler, not even reading yet - she wouldn't go down for a nap without half a dozen picture books in bed with her. The kids all know that birthday & Christmas presents from me are likely to be books (or gift cards for Borders or Barnes & Noble bookstores!).
Well, enough rambling on here, I've gotta go read now!

I don't read nowhere near as much as I used to...or as much of I'd like too. Unfortunately. life gets in the way! Maybe one "proper" book a month, but always have a audio book at my bedside.

Probably 1-3 books per month, though it's really hard to tell as I'm always reading more than one book, overlapping each other. Then, you have to count how much online reading is going on as well. Like this post. Did you count reading my answer in your total time reading?

I used to be a book or two a week person. However I haven't read in quite a while. I feel like I should go and read something soon. I have been in a puzzle stage at the moment, doing SOdukos and Kakuros any spare moment of the day.

My mother manged to pass the reading gene down on to at least 3 out of the 4 of us (my dad never reads especially now that his eyes have degraded).

The best thing ever however has been that my niece who had/has dyslexia loves reading and reads at the top level of her class. Even better than the so called "normal" kids. Her writing isn't terribly good but she is working on it.

To madmichelle-I read Holy Blood, Holy Grail and was underwhelmed. I think that the authors got a lot of mileage out of their lawsuit against Dan Brown.
