The only movie that ever gave me nightmares was Pet Semetary. That Zelda lady freaked me out. Other than that I have never had nightmares. I love horror movies so that is probably why.

When I was little "Jaws" gave me a nightmare. My living room when I was little was blue like the ocean, needless to say I had a dream tha the shark was in my living room.

The Exorcist never gave me nightmares...I saw that in the movies when I was 5 or 6 years old.

I think it was called Death Ship - I was only about 10 and camping on my grandparents floor and thought I was soooo grown up watching TV late at night while all the adults were in bed. It scared the bejesus out of me.

No, I wasn't talking about that - Death Ship was the movie that scared me - just wasn't sure of the title.

The Ring. That really really really freaked me out. It's been a couple of years since i saw it, and it still freaks me out to think about it now. But don't tell anyone....

The Excorcist gave me nighmares, it was just kind of creepy. So did the Ring. It wasnt necessarily scary, but that part where she comes out of the tv gave me nightmares.

Check out 'Salem's Lot' a 1979 TV Movie with David Soul and James Mason. There are some truly scary scenes in it.

The section of "Trilogy of Terror" with the voodoo doll...AACCKK!

Also, when I was about 8 or 9 I saw a horrible movie called "The Frozen Dead" About all I remember of it was a scientist was keeping a woman's head alive in a jar and the head kept saying, "Bury me with my body..."
Stupid, but that gave me nightmares for quite a long time. It was just really creepy.

Scared the hell out of me as a kid and still gives me the creeps now. The tree, the clown, the face-tearing..

Have you seen the new movie? It's supposed to be more true to the book.

Oh absolutely not. Slasher fims are not scary...movies that stimulate and terrify through mind games are MUCH scarier.

No I haven't seen the new 'Salem's Lot' yet. But again it's a TV film split into two parts, just like the original. I can't understand why this excellent book hasn't yet made it to the big screen. I'm sure someone like Wes Craven could get his teeth into this one.

I KNOW!!! Why they haven't made it a big screen flick is beyond me! I've read my copy to tatters and it still enthralls me.
And Rob Lowe as Ben Mears? I mean, he's a decent actor, but he's STILL Rob Lowe...

The Ring definitely wins hands-down as the top movie that has scared the living daylights out of me. And when it comes to movies, I really don't scare that easily. But I couldn't sleep the night after I saw that movie, and I was scared to turn out my light.

Halloween was also quite scary, but I've seen it so many times that I know when all the "jump" parts are going to happen.

Also, when I was about 7, I saw this movie that I think was called The Dolls. It was about these people that get stuck at this mansion with some guy who makes dolls. Anyway, the dolls came to life and either killed people or made them into dolls themselves, I can't remember. I know it sounds kind of stupid, but the movie really scared me at that age. I was so scared that I ran out of the room where it was playing and hid in my bed!

The first time I saw Hallowe'en 2, I got so scared that I was physically ill. I think I was 11 or 12 and it was the first, hardcore slasher film I had ever seen. For my money, the theme of Hallowe'en is the scariest ever.

When I was little "Death On The Nile" scared me pretty good. With all of the shootings. Wow.

"Murder On The Orient Express" also gave me quite a scare. With all the stabbings and all.

"Jeepers Creepers" kinda scared me. Not enough to give me nightmares though.

I avoid scary movies like the plague, but there was one time I had no choice but to watch the movie. Our German teacher had the great idea to watch a movie in class to have us practise our German. So far, so good. But she picked Dead Calm (dubbed in German ), which scared me to death! Seeing as I was in class I couldn't run away, but my eyes were closed as often as I could manage without the teacher noticing. Had nightmares for days afterwards.

Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho" definitely evokes nightmares. That movie crosses my mind every time I take a shower! I think the master of suspense achieved his goal: He's still scaring the pants off of viewers 44 years after the movie's release!

I agree with beeblebrox; The Ring is the scariest movie I have ever seen. I actually summoned up the nerve to watch it a second time, but I don't know if there'll ever be a third... Eeeeek!
