My boyfriend installed a new video card for me on Sunday.

But now, I'm having some major problems with Windows Explorer.

- I cannot create new folders. That menu doesn't even appear anymore. Just says things like Open, Explore, Open, etc.

- If a folder is listed on the right side of Windows explorer (or my computer), I cannot double click on the folder to open it. All I get is the prompt to choose what program I want to open this 'file' with.

Help! Please!

Well, I'll try to help you out, but I'm not sure how much help I'll be.

Ok, I opened Windows Explorer, and there's the little nav bar on the left, and then the folder you're looking into on the left. If you right click on the left side, you get the options you described. However, if you right click on the right side, you get the "New" option, and through that you can choose what to make, i.e. a folder.

I'm pretty sure that won't help at all, because that's just my computer.

What type of computer do you have?

Nope - still not working. I'm convinced it has something to do with the fact it lists 'open' twice in the thing.

Beth, still on ME? Get XP!

I have had some major problems with explorer, which wouldn't do anything at all anymore. I found out it was related to my CD-RW. Still don't know why... The only "solution" for me was to disconnect the CD-RW and format. I hope you don't have to do something that drastic. Although, switching to XP needs formatting probably...

Sounds like your 'software' is not recogising your new 'hardware' - there's a great site called World Start that has a lot of info on PC related problems etc or alternatively try (gasp) Microsoft (eeek) - you may just find some useful info there, note I said 'may'. I've found sometimes it's necessary to 'reload' the new 'hardware' to get the 'software' to recognise it! Hope this helps . . .

Yeah, my boyfriend had a bunch of problems trying to get the driver to install right (but it's still a little off) - I don't know exactly what he was doing as I was packing and moving furniture at the time.

I would switch to XP, but I only have 256 of RAM and have heard that my computer would be faster under ME.

As for reformatting, I guess it's an option. Since my HD crashed in January, I've saved all of the install files in a folder for each of the programs I've downloaded (except for this game my bf and I are beta-testing - it's too big ), and I'm just about done doing a complete backup of all my 'personal' files...

Well - it's fixed. My boyfriend did a soft re-install of Windows ME and it's working again... He had to remove every single program that starts when I boot my computer though, so I have to re-install that stuff... but eh, I didn't need to reformat!
