This question refers to the West.

I rode about 300 miles, through Three Rivers and Seven Lakes, without getting drop on me. And when I reined in, I looked up to see the state flag fluttering in the breeze. What state am I in?

You are in my wonderful state. The Land of Enchantment: New Mexico.

Leaving Three Rivers, travel east on US Hwy. 54, west on US Hwy 380, north on Interstate 25, west on NM Hwy 6, west on Interstate 40, north on NM Hwy 371, and east on NM Hwy 57 puts you in Seven Lakes - exactly 300.8 miles.

edited to add hwys.

Seven Lakes State Park is in Michigan (not exactly part of the West). The city of Three Rivers is also in Michigan. I don't have a good map of the state so I can't tell if they are 300 miles apart. Am I close?

Edit: ClaraSue beat me by a nanosecond. She is probably right whereas I have been frequently wrong.
