The last founding member of The Ramones has passed on. Johnny Ramone was 55. He lost his long battle with prostate cancer today.

This is truly a sad day for punk rock fans. The Ramones are one of my favorite bands ever.

Join me, if you will, in one final chant of "Gabba, Gabba Hey" in honor of Johnny.

I hated hearing this about Johnny Ramone. I'm glad I got to see the Ramones during their peak. Their inspiration and influence on music and musicians will live on for decades.

I think it's Tommy Ramone who's the lone survivor of the original founding members.

Gabba gabba hey!
RIP Johnny

Actually, Tommy wasn't in the original Lineup. I believe Joey was pulling double duty on drums and vocals when the band started out. I'll find a source for that later.

IndieQueen is indeed correct. I can't find the source myself, but I have do know Joey was the first drummer the band had when they were gigging in '74. Tommy played on the band's debut album in '78 though.
