Just saw this movie. It was great! I don't want to give away too much to start, so let me know when you see it and then we can have a spoiler party.

Go see this movie.

And be prepared to laugh.

Going to see it Saturday with my kids. Had to promise that I wouldn't go without them

My husband and I both enjoyed it very much. It is very 30's-ish, and very funny at some points. It has a very Lucas-y feel to it. The f/x are stunning. The kids will like all the robots and special effects, the adults will enjoy more the way the movie is written - more like a 1930's serial. Oh, and Sir Laurence Olivier makes a cameo...

This was one of the best movies my kids and I have seen. The look was amazing and to think, most of it was CGI. Afterwards, my son made me promise to get it when it comes out on DVD. They're going to tell their Dad how good it was so that he'll take them to see it.

joni,

What was your favorite part? I enjoyed it when Sky Captain was flying over the ocean, and they made it look like he was flying over a map. Oh... the TNT in the cave! That was a hoot. Lots of humor in there.

Hey sm,
I agree about the map part, the water looked so real. It's hard to pick a particular part out of so many, mmm...I think the underwater battle, when Frankie crashed her plane then jettisoned into the sky was amazing. I still can't get over how real everything looked! I saw an interview with Gwyneth Paltrow. She said that when they filmed it the actors were usually just in a green room/studio. She was just as awe struck as the rest of the audience when she saw the whole picture, at the premiere.

Can't wait for the DVD

oooo... I loved the Amphibious planes. I think I see an oscar for at least the special f/x. I think Paltrow's acting was a little stiff, but Angelina Jolie was loads of fun.

I agree about Paltrow, but wonder if she was just trying to fit the part. In those old movies, the heroines were kind of stiff. Like the actress in Casablanca (darn, I'm tired and the name isn't coming to me, but on this site everyone probably knows that bit of trivia). I mean she didn't look all that upset at the airport when Rick (Bogart) was telling her goodbye. I agree about Jolie, although I love her in anything she does.
