I really want to come to Australia.I want to make my plans. I really know nothing much .
I don't have much money, but I dont want to sleep in tents by the side of billabongs. I am inclined to book a package tour from here, which takes in the must see places (Sydney, Uluru, Barrier reef....) BUT I need to drop off and see IMPORTANT AUSTRALIANS from FT (one of them is a certain must-see 2 year old)..
I also have a cousin in Maryborough QLD, who says she will take me to the Gold Coast, and a friend in Stretton,QLD who I have to see.
How can I do all this and have weather that is OK?I am used to very hot, cooler is a bit better but not so important as getting to see as much as poss. I suppose I could take about 3 weeks , if it tallied with the school holidays. The Summer vacation (end June to Sept, the Easter April May) the Christmas December (too short really) all could be arranged at a pinch. Thanks.
What do you suggest?

The two year old will be more than happy to travel to Sydney to see you if you do a package and aren't able to be in his immediate area!! His Mum wouldn't mind seeing you either!

Well that's it then. Meet you two,see the Bridge and the Opera house and go home eh? That will be the best bit I am sure.

Hey, what about the other Sydney-siders?

Ren, the 3 places that you mentioned are all about 2,000 km from each other- I hope you have lots of time for travelling!
I have to admit I had never heard of Stretton (it is a Brisbane suburb).

Our winter may be a bit cool for your liking, especially at Uluru- the temp can dip below zero there, but in summer it can get to the high 40s or more.

Easter is mid-autumn here, and the country can be quite pretty...

I will do some more digging for you tomorrow-

Perth is beautiful and there is lots to see and do. Unfortunately, since we are the world's most geographically isolated state capital city, people often forgo the pleasure of coming here because of the extra expense involved.

However, should you decide to visit Perth, ren, I'd love to meet up with you and show you around. I practically live on the airport's doorstep, so it's very handy!

What sort of things do you want to see and do? Historical stuff? Wildlife? Our fabulous beaches?

PM me if you want more information.

MG how sweet of you!
This will sound strange but I think most of all I would like to see some Australians.I love beaches and old buildings and gardens and flowers, but I like people best.So I would love to see as many of you as possible.I am just here to listen at the moment. I am open to all ideas. I realise it is a huge and beautiful country. This will sound weird but I am more interested in your way of life than your monuments which I guess I can see on National Geographic...

Well, I guess that Australia is a good place to start

Ren, the Bridge and the Opera House are nice, but I think you may enjoy the Three Sisters, a ferry to Manly, a day trip to Canberra- you could 'waste' three weeks in Sydney!

MG, I have heard that Perth is beautiful, and I also recently heard that WA is still part of Australia..
please confirm..

Yes, well, there are, and always have been, moves afoot to secede.

"the Bridge and the Opera House are nice, but I think you may enjoy the Three Sisters, a ferry to Manly". Been there, done all that, can highly recommend it. I "wasted" two weeks in Sydney and can confirm that Ozzz is not leading you astray!

"I love beaches and old buildings and gardens and flowers, but I like people best". We have all of those!

Ren if you do visit the Sydney coathanger you will also be close to the Royal Botanical Gardens, the Australian Art Gallery, the Australian Museum and The Rocks [old buildings and a great feel to the place].

Ren, having just come back from Sydney to sunny Queensland (29 degrees celsius today, 22 in Sydney!) you will definately get the most out of your trip if you include the Aquarium (Darling Harbour, Sydney) and Taronga Zoo (especially if you have a 2 year old tagging along . . .) however, you mentioned Stretton (yes it is a suburb of Brisbane) and your friend in Maryborough mightn't mind the 4+ hour trip (by car that is) to the Gold Coast, but the Sunshine Coast is quite nice too and it's not so far from Maryborough and your friend lives on the doorstep of the beautiful Hervey Bay and nearby Fraser Island which is stunning! So much to do, so little time . . . . . . you could try the Tourism Qld www.destinationqueensland.com/tq.cfm and Tourism NSW www.visitnsw.com.au websites, they're chock full of great ideas!
