Thank god they are reshowing the first episode of this incredible series. I had missed it, and although I read a scene by scene summary, its not the same thing. I can't wait. In this episode, who are the flashbacks about?

If I remember correctly, the flashbacks in the first episode show how the plane went down and the reactions to the people in the plane.

Now I finally saw the first episode, and things began to click. For instance, you see Sawyer reading a letter. I know what the letter says becasue I already saw the episode where the focus is Sawyer. Great episode by the way. I wonder what the animal that ate the pilot was. Someone said it was a dragon because the Pilot's body looked burned. I think its probably some kind of dinosaur. I hope I find out soon. Its weird. I think that If I hadn't seen the Sawyer episdoe and had only watched the first episode, I would have thought that Sawyer is a villain.

Did you all notice in the first episode when Walt has found a Spanish-language comic book, they briefly show a page or two of the book, and in the first picture there is a polar bear?

I hadn't seen the first episode until it was rerun this past Wednesday. Another scene I found very strange was when Kate is taking those boots off a dead person, she finds Lock watching her and he grins at her with that big piece of orange in his mouth. Weird.

I watched the replay of the first episode, too, as I've never seen the show. It is great! Funny it was mentioned about that guy (who looked so much like an alien when he opened his mouth with that orange in it - who eats oranges unpeeled, by the way? - and that 'boot thing' was weird, too.). This last season has given us some welcomed great television. I'm still waiting for "The 4400" to come back.

In the episode where Sahid left the camp (after torturing Sawyer about the asthma inhalers) he came across a French woman who knocked him out and took him to her underground fortress. It was here that we learned that animals, wild animals, such as polar bears, boars, elephants, etc., were stranded on the island, too.

Since Lock killed a boar, and Sawyer killed a polar bear, I feel the animal that killed the pilot was an elephant. Since the cockpit of the airplane was suspended in the trees, and since elephants use their trunk to grab things, the elephant probably grabbed the pilot, realised he wasn't food, and tossed him into the air where Kate, Jack, and Charlie found him in the first episode.

Now, in the last episode before they began showing the first few episodes, Sahid returned and told everyone that they are not alone on the island, Charlie was hung by the man known as Ethan (and I take it that Ethan is in cahoots with the French woman), and Charlie told everyone at the camp that "they" want Claire (the one who is pregnant). I'm guessing that the "they" are Ethan and the French woman, but what I can't figure out is what they want with a pregnant woman on the verge of giving birth, unless "they" really want the baby and not Claire.

The way the nose of the plane was propped up against the trees, an elephant would not have been able to get the captain, and the glimpse we got of his body later looked like his top half had been chewed. From the waist up, he was all blood and there was no discernable face at all. I would agree something grabbed him and flung him, but I'm wondering if it wasn't some kind of bird, or something very big, like a dinosaur.

Elephants can mangle a person with their tusks, and don't forget that we don't know exactly how tall that tree was, so it could be an elephant. If it was an elephant, the elephant grabbed the pilot with its trunk, didn't like what it grabbed, mangled the pilot and flung him far and high.

When they went into the piece of the plane, it seemed like they had an awful lot of climbing to do to reach the cockpit. That's why I thought an elephant wouldn't be tall enough, but I sure don't know what it might have been. Maybe something similar to a Tyrannosaurus that has evolved on the island on its own. Wouldn't it be awful if they never tell us?

I have to tape Lost and watch it overnight at work. For some reason this week the machine stopped taping right after Locke told Boone he had to let go. Can anyone fill me in on what happened after that? Man, I hate when this happens!

I missed the entire episode! Forgot it was on at 8PM instead of 9PM!

Ah well, I'm mainly watching it for Mira Furlan (crazy French lady).

I checked the settings on the VCR and it was set to end at 9:02, so I don't know why it cut off early. Just wondering if there was anything else, or if there was a song or anything to take it out. Anything and everything seems to be significant in this show.

I just checked my tape, McGruff and you didn't miss anything. That was the ending. I work late and my Dad tapes Lost for me. If you want to see something interesting, pause the tape and run it slowly when the "monster" appears behind Shannon and Boone.

I saw the tree get ripped right out of the ground behind them. Right before that you can hear the flapping of birds' wings as they all take flight and Boone and Shannon don't take heed to the fact that something has startled them.

In the flashback when Boone was at the police station trying to get them to go to Shannon's house, did you notice that they are booking Sawyer in the background?

I noticed that about Sawyer. Funny thing is, when the handcuffs were found Boone made no mention of seeing Sawyer at the police station, did he?
How do you feel about Kate now that we know she robbed a bank and shot three men for a toy plane? I liked her but now don't know what to think.

Yeah I saw Sawyer too. I'm still fine with Kate. I guess we will just have to wait and see the rest of her story though...to see the real reason why she wanted that plane so bad.

Boone seemed only to glance at Sawyer in the police station and had more important issues on his mind. Sawyer was an annoyance, keeping the officer from giving him his full attention. I'm thinking it will come out later that he remembers seeing him there.

We still don't know who Kate killed, or when or why. It wasn't any of the bank robbers, she only wounded them. I'm beginning to think we may see more connections with our characters at the police station. We have Boone and Sawyer there. I'm wondering if Kate was processed there (I didn't see the episode about her) and held for the marshall to pick her up. We don't know what Locke may have done after being told he couldn't go on the walkabout. He was pretty angry. Jack was advised to contact the police when his father went missing from his hotel. Did he talk a ticket agent into putting his father's casket on the plane without documentation? I doubt it. Whose blood was all over Jin? What were they doing in Sydney anyway? What's Hurley's story?

Yeah I really wonder what Hurley's story is too...I wonder when they are going to have one about him. I hope soon.

Well, I saw Wednesday's episode but was wondering if the show goes over 2 or 3 minutes each week on your station as well? All the other shows start and end on the hour, "Lost" starts on the hour, but doesn't end until 9:03. (Meaning i have to either tape "Lost" or miss some of "West Wing".)

Yeah it goes over a couple minutes on my station too. But it doesn't really affect me as I watch Alias right after it anyway.

My sister told me it had run overtime, it's just that I had been taping it and it had never done that before. Apparently I didn't miss anything. I've read a transcript of that episode and Locke just says "Follow me" and it ends, but I didn't get the "scenes from the next week" and I usually get a minute or so of Alias. Just annoying. I've set my end-time for 9:10 just in case it happens again!

Any theories on who they're carrying in the body bag?

From what I gathered from the scenes for next week, Claire is still pregnant, but she doesn't know anyone. Charlie, Jack, Sahed, Hurley, and the others go after Ethan. So I feel that Ethan is the one they are carrying in the body bag.

I am so obsessed with this show. This is the first time I've been hooked on a show from the very beginning not to mention one that's such a success. My friend totally makes fun of me because I don't know anyone that watches it so I have no one to talk to it about. Except you guys of course.

For some reason ABC is running the show long (which Entertainment Weekly complained about) so I missed the endings of TWO shows I taped: the drug-induced Boone one and the Charlie-reads-Claire's-diary one. Speaking of which, Charlie and Claire are my two favorite characters. It makes me sad that she won't remember him and how he brought her "peanut butter". AND I completely embarassingly bawled when I thought Charlie was dead. Seriously. It was pathetic.

But you gotta admit:Charlie and Claire? Total cuteness. Eh?

Lily, I cried too when I thought Charlie was dead. I was yelling to the television for Jack to bring him back!

I was so happy when I saw that Claire is alive and still with child (I had erroneously thought that Ethan and whoever else were going to force her into early labor so they could keep her baby).

It will be sad to see Claire not remember Charlie or anyone else or even remember why she's on the island; but somehow I think (hope is more like it) that by the end of next week's show Claire will remember.

But a few questions for anyone who can answer:

1.) Is the French lady and Ethan together?

2.) If they're not together, then is Ethan the "others" that the French lady spoke of?

3.) Remember when Charlie was rescued? He said "They didn't want me...they want Claire" (or something to that effect). Who are the "they" and why do they want Claire?

4.) Where are the animals coming from, especially the Polar Bears? Polar Bears cannot live in the tropics.
