*sigh* Well, if Star Trek: The Next Generation is "classic" than so am I. I'd say the original Star Trek is "classic" but TNG only qualifies as a "new classic" because otherwise I'd feel too darn old. Besides, TNG was more 90's than 80's.
If we include the 1980's, then I'd have to throw in some of the cartoons, since that is when I grew up, and I remember them fondly. Those would be: Galaxy High and Wildfire (two one-season shows from 1984?), the Smurfs, He-Man and She-ra, and my personal favorite, GI Joe (is the codename for America's daring, highly-trained special mission force. It's purpose: to defend the human freedom against COBRA, a ruthless terrorist organization determined to rule the world. Knowing really IS half the battle, darn it!!). Hmm. I was a tom boy.
*Aside* My husband is chasing our toddler around with a toy chicken, clucking the theme song to Star Wars.
Anyway, if we're going really classic, I'd say Dick Van Dyke, MASH and Bewitched (but only the episodes with the original Darrin). And speaking of Elizabeth Montgomery, she also starred in one of my favorite episodes of another of my favorite classics, The Twilight Zone. She and Charles Bronson in "Two"... Oooh, spooky!

I thought it started in 87 and ended in 94? Ok, so that would be 3 seasons that start in the 80s... And I remember when it first started airing, too.

Definitely "Bewitched". I had a big time crush on Elizabeth Montgomery as a kid, and have approximately 140 recorded episodes. I still watch it on TV Land.

Newhart by far is the one I'd call my all-time favorite "classic" TV show. Then I'd have to say The Mary Tyler Moore Show. Carol Burnett Show would have to rate up there too...
Would Knots Landing and Dallas qualify for this category? Or The Love Boat and Fantasy Island They were must see tv way back in the late '70s/early '80s.

Benny Hill shows (which were repackaged for American TV), especially his Fred Scuttle skits, were probably my favorite. The old Carol Burnett show used to crack me up—that sketch with Tim Conway as a bumbling dentist who sticks himself with a Novocain shot is a classic.

My mother would never let me watch Peyton Place, Gats! You must've had a little more relaxed childhood than I did. And being a girl, I made myself scarce when my brothers turned to Rat Patrol or Combat. But I did love things like the Outer Limits, Twilight Zone, The Virginian, High Chapparal and The Man From U.N.C.L.E. Illya was the cutest thing that ever breathed, as far as I was concerned.

MASH Bewitched Doctor Who (my personal fave. esp. Tom Baker aka the Fourth Doctor) Red Dwarf (totally Hilarious!) Quote:

Did you know that the guy who played Illya is now playing Dr. Mallard aka "Ducky", the Medical Examiner on Navy:NCIS? Also, they actually referenced "UNCLE" in one episode? Someone comments to Gibbs that they can't picture Ducky young and Gibbs replys that he looked kinda like Illya Kuryakin. ROFL!
