Wow... it's been just over a year since we lost my dad. I've been thinking of some way to remember him here, but, I don't think I have to do that. He is here in each of us that knew him and cared for him. I leave you, simply, with this...

I give you this one thought to keep -
I am with you still - I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not think of me as gone -
I am with you still - in each new dawn.

**Native American Prayer**

That's lovely Kelly. I don't know where that year went, oh how we miss him.

It's a beautiful remembrance. He was one of the best men I ever knew though I knew him only on this FunTrivia web site. I feel the loss of a friend taken too early. May God bless him.

It doesn't feel like it has been a year. I didn't get much of a chance to speak with him, but what he brought to this forum showed he was an amazing man.

I got to speak to him online about a week before this. He was philosophical about his new 'friend' and was explaining how it worked. I mean the device thing.

I think the time I recall the most was when I'd lost my corporate job and he told me stories of corporate firings to cheer me up.

Gun had an amazing memory and though I know a lot of people's real names vs screennames, he knew most of the editors and moderators' first names by heart.

I also miss the jokes with Spike, his imaginary dog that we said was a poodle and he had imagined a Husky or something.

Ah well, you must miss him terribly. It does seem like it was yesterday.

ah yes, Spike. If he could have had a dog, it would have been something big and nasty. A big police dog.

His memory was amazing. One of the ladies who came to his memorial service was the dispatcher from when he was still active on the police force. This was about 30 or so years ago. She told me that when she saw him in the grocery store, he remembered that it was her birthday. I don't think he had seen her for a while, but still remembered it.

And he would never, ever have a poodle. My mom has a poodle. *shudders* Even I would never have a poodle. Ghastly little creatures. (even the imaginary ones *winks*)

This wasn't any old poodle, it was a particularly fine poodle with a pink bow in its hair!

Spike

Edited to add that your father really enjoyed the joke, as you know that he would.

Ok Sue, that view of Spike made me get misty eyed...we really had a lot of fun with it too.

I remember him countering our poodle with some macho dog too.

Another joke was the Police Academy stuff.
I can well imagine he would remember details like that too about a lady he'd worked with.
