I was in the crowd in Cardiff when Aldershot played their last game before going into liquidation some 15 years or so ago. We had a collection for the players because they hadn't been paid for weeks. They all came over and on to the terrace to thank us after the game. Sport at its very best - going way beyond the simple result of a game.
That's why Aldershot have always had a special place in my heart ever since then. Great to see the club on the way back - let's hope we get to play you again soon, as long as that means you getting a couple of promotions!

yes Huw i was there that day, a very sad time for our club, it was 1992 and we formed a new club playing village teams, it took 16 years to fight our way back, and to tell the truth i`ve enjoyed every second of it, i`ve got no doubt we`ll play Cardiff again sometime in the future, and when we do i'm sure our fans will show their appreciation of what you did for our team on that day

It's nice to see not everyone is "seduced" by the big "glamor teams" in sport.
I have supported COLCHESTER UNITED since my father (who played for them before the war) first took me to watch them play when I was 9 years old (1950). Currently they play in 3rd Tier of English soccer.
Also favour my actual home town team, BURY TOWN who are one of the countless little non-league teams and play in the Ryman League.
Thirdly, back in 1968, I was waiting to catch the Stranraer-Larne Ferry in Scotland and watched STRANRAER play - I have followed their results ever since.

As a life long New Yorker (with a 4 year sentence of living in Southern California during High school) My favorites are as follows:
Baseball - New York Mets Have followed them since 1966 (my 50th season upcoming)
Football (gridiron everywhere else) - New York Giants almost as long as I picked them up in 1970
Hockey - New York Rangers love the Broadway Blueshirts
Basketball - Unfortunately I root for the New York Knicks. They are horrible this year but I am old enough to remember the glory years of 1969 and 1973

If my avatar shows, it will demonstrate the Edmonton Oilers are my favourite in hockey, and my hometown Edmonton Eskimos in Canadian football. As a lifelong Edmontonian, I support all the local teams, and even Tottenham Hotspur, since they play adjacent to the original Edmonton.
