I'd like to join a group but don't know anybody who is a member of one.

These are topics I am interested in:
*Islam
*The Lord of the Rings/J.R.R. Tolkien
*Harry Potter/J.K. Rowling
*Books
*Fantasy genre

Do any of these groups exist? Are you a member of one? If so, is the group active?
Please PM me of the group number as I would like to join if they are available. Thank you.

Don't forget that you will only be able to join two. One way around this is to note the numbers of the groups and 'hop' from one to the other.

I hope that you will find a group to suit you. There used to be a list of all the groups but again, the minority ruined it for the majority, some people created groups with offensive names so the list was removed. It was easier to remove the list than moderate the groups.

Whilst on the subject of groups and offensive names/posts, if anyone comes across offensive material anywhere on this website please let one of the administrators know together with the members name, where it is etc so that we can deal with the offenders.

I was already wondering where the list had gone, I didn't know it had been deleted. Thanks for the info, Sue.
So does that mean that if I want to find out which groups exist or which number they have, I basically have to wait till someone invites me to join or tells me about the group?

I am afraid that is the situation, you can ask in the forums for invitations to groups. If you are adventurous and have lots of time you can join random groups to view them, just enter a number and you might get lucky.

As I said, the few ruining things for the majority.

Yes, I realised the list had gone so I decided to come here on the forums. Leau78 sent me a page which is a good enough replacement for the list. You can see it here: http://www.funtrivia.com/lastmonth_smartest_team.html

And thanks Sue, I hope I find a suitable group too.

Clever Leau!

I will anchor this thread to the top of the forum, members can use it to check the list from your link and to make requests for other groups. This will save us from having lots of duplicate threads.

If anyone is interested in joining a group which is generally about everything, although it was first supposed to be for those who like Final Fantasy, check out Smer Trivia Group. We were just number 74 on the Smartypants list... =) PM me for the ID.

Argh! I had a nervous moment and inadvertantly eliminated myself from my favorite friend's group, The Quiz Writer's Guild. I can't remember the number. It's 17 - something, I think. Help !

I thought the list was removed 'cause there were too many groups (2000 or something).

I don't know how you got that idea. The list was removed a long time ago when we only had a few hundred.

Does anyone know how one can find a group if your the only member and you accidently removed yourself and you don't know the number. I tried just typing in random numbers but there are millions of differnt numbers (actually only a few thousand). Any ideas?

Is it on the list in the link given by blurrystar nearer the top of this thread? If it isn't then I can't help you, just keep trying random numbers.

The problem with groups is that when you find a group to join, you don't know what number it is!

When I go to that section it tells me which group I belong to and gives me the number of the group.

i am lookin for a group who enjoys movies as much as i do. I am new to the computer and i want to find others like me, lost who need help and conversation.
when i read the rules, i was so glad, the yahoo chat rooms don't discuss anything but each other. not that i am a prude, but i cannot bear nasty-talking kids. Maybe I am A Prude.

Take a quiz on one of these topics, and then give the quiz-crafter a compliment. Start a conversation, and get invited before your eyes, or invite the person.

We don't normally give links to 'competitor' sites. Sorry.
