Yesterday my computer seized up after I received seven or eight pop up ads in quick succession, each one just a few seconds after the previous one. I got an error message about a modem error: DSP couldn't load, 1010 failure. What does that mean? (My dial-up speed is 56K.) We have a similar expression here that would have described it as, dare I say, 'got its knickers in a twist'. Both mean it became so confused it couldn't do the job properly.
