Hi everyone,

You know, in HP5, Harry didn't exactly get around saying Sirius is dead.

And judgeing by JK' s exceptional talent to turn situations around, I say anything the story can take a massive turn.

So do you think Sirius is REALLY dead?

Actually, I believe he is. Let me dig up the quote I found...

Here it is, from Mugglenet.com. These facts are gathered from online chats with Ms. Rowling, and Mugglenet says they are confirmed facts, not rumors.

Quote:

In books 6 and 7 we will find out exactly why JK killed off Sirius.

I think that is clear enough.

Also, I want to add, by the way, the death was so massively hyped before Book 5, I think he is dead.

I reckon he's dead too, sadly, but could be very important in books 6 and 7! Hope book 6 is released shortly!

I believe book 6 is supposed to come out next summer. The last one came out the day before my birthday. Hubby went and stood in line at midnight for me!

Hmmm...now that I come to think of it, he might be dead. I read in the news paper somewhere that JK said she came into her kitchen and told her husband "I killed him" or something like that...

I think it would be interesting if Harry could somehow communicate with him (the mirror, for example) but I'm not holding my breath. Considering she has killed off at least one person in each book, I believe he is dead. I also trust Mugglenet to post what they know as the truth.

Okay... this is taken from a transcript of an online chat with JK Rowling. I believe this will take care of any hope anyone had that Sirius was still alive.

Quote:

Cookie246122: Why did you kill Sirius? It made me very sad
JK Rowling replies -> I'm really, really sorry. I didn't want to do it, but there was a reason. If you think you can forgive me, keep reading, you'll find out. [I feel really guilty now].

And here is one about that mirror.... woo!

Quote:

Kelpie_8: Will the two way mirror Sirius gave Harry ever show up again?
JK Rowling replies -> Ooooo good question. There's your answer.

Oh man, I am so outdated on the HP books. I read them all, but I need to re-read so I can get some value out of the next one.

I have great faith that JKR will make the next book as wonderful as the first five, and I for one can't wait, Sirius-ly.

(ouch, I can't believe I actually typed that.)

May I say (as one who has yet to read Book 5), that the addition of 'possible spoilers' to this particular thread title is redundant?

The title itself is a spoiler. Thanks a lot.

It is a series based on magic in which the "dark wizard" has been revived, right? I believe that some necromancy might be seen in the future.

No, Sirius is not dead. He just passed throught the curtian between this world and the next. That doesn't mean that he is dead. It's like he's a living person in the world of the dead.

I hope that he's not dead! He was one of my favorite characters in the books. I reread it a few times when I first read the 5th book, but I had a little trouble figuring it out.

Please, sit back and be sure that Sirius is dead. Do I sound JKRish? That's what I think.

She wouldn't never do anything as stupid as bringing Harry's godfather back. That would seem to be driven by popular demand. Oh c'mon, it is an international bestseller, and has to be somewhat sensible, no? Sirius should never be back, for the sake of the confiscated nature of the book, perhaps.

He might feature in the books to help Harry...as in he dreams of him etc...even, as a push, as a ghost. But in my opinion Sirius is well and truly dead

Well, I'm still not quite clear about what to think. One the one hand, I trust JKR and think that she had a real good reason to kill him off. For the effects to take place as she planned, of course, he must remain dead, and I personally don't think that he'll come back as a ghost or Inferius (a dead body revived by dark magic - you can't possibly call this a spoiler).
On the other hand, it feels as if she still has something in store which might open some opportunities. She never explained what kind of veil that was; all the circumstances are really strange. And as long as she doesn't explain HOW the heck Sirius died, there's a little bit of hope left. But I have my own theory about that, anyway, even wrote a fanfiction about the "Return of the Lost," although I very much doubt that things will turn out as I imagined
I'm certain, though, that something will be revealed about Sirius which makes it all clearer, and perhaps more bearable to us Sirius-lovers (I must admit, he was one of my favorite characters, along with Remus Lupin).
